Getting Rusty back wouldn't be the worst thing. With a $51 million cap, his salary looks a little better. But I wouldn't trade Bryz, our most valuable trading asset, for him. We can do a lot better than that.
Besides, Rusty would be a poor replacement for Nieds. For Sean O'Donnell, I could see it.
Resigning Giggy is probably buying Bryz a plane tickett outta here. Now I'm sure if we have to give him up we can do much better.Yotes are very interested, but being that theyre in the Pacific that probably won't happen.
It would cost alot more than Ilya for Horton. But Nate isnt going anywhere. Its a good trade for both teams. Both teams fill a big hole.
Huh? A big hole? The Ducks don't have a big hole until people actually retire. Salei isn't much better than half the UFA defensemen out there, a few of which are our UFA. Why trade for what we can sign for free?

If the deal was right, I'd deal him to the Yotes. I think fans think too much of the whole "division rival" thing. I'm not sure what assets the Yotes have that the Ducks would want, though.
Salei is a depth defenseman, Bryzgalov has potential to be a #1 goalie... Salei is older and has a higher salary.
I like the guy not for Bryz. I'd like to avoid a depth defenseman that much salary, when you can get a guy with a lot of potential (like Morris) for not much more.

Does Morris still have a lot of potential? He'll be 29 in August.
1 - he don't like russians, and we will have one next season..
2 - we have no problems with our D, unless scotty will retire, but salei isn't answer that's for sure
3 - bryz>>>salei..unless it's something like bryz for salei and 2nd, or salei and some prospect i dont see this happening

Rusty's Belarussian... BIG difference.
Okay, I'm kidding. I don't think he had any problem with Salei. The guy plays like a Canadian. There's not much difference between him and Sean O'Donnell. Put him next to Pronger and see what happens.
I've always like Rusty and wouldn't mind seeing him back to replace O'Donnell. But straight up for Bryzgalov? no way! But as someone mentioned, throwing in some picks or prospects would make the deal more acceptable.
I would feel sorry for him if he is coming back, after playing with this team for so many years and when leaving, the Ducks take their first Stanley Cup victory in team history...
