It's been said a million times but I'll say it again. Perrault won't go to the Isles because:
-Isles are dumping salary and he has a big contract.
-Perrault has a no trade clause and won't approve a trade to NYI
Perreault would be a useful replacement on the second line while Yashin is out. They're right behind us and if you check rodent's real standings they would finish ahead of us if we extrapolated the remaining games. I would prefer to keep Perreault in case bad luck strikes again than to lend help to our closest rival in the standings. Let's face it Perreault isn't going to bring much in return. His price tag and his soon to be UFA status doesn't turn him into the hottest commodity. That being said he's still useful to an average team looking to make the playoffs. For those reasons I don't see why we should give him to the Isles.

Last time I checked we are competing with those same Isles for the last playoff spot. I don't see things changing much over the next few weeks or even months. Will Gainey trade to improve an immediate competitor? I doubt it.
The Isles are NOT dumping salary now since they don't have to pay Yashin's salary because of his injury, the insurance are taking care of it.
Not neccessarily. The usual NHL insurance package is the team gets 80% of a players salary covered after he misses 30 games. Yashin may or may not miss 30 games, so I doubt the Isles will bank on getting the insurance money.
Salary or not, we're still ignoring Perrault's no trade clause, and, like NWT Habs Fan said, BG is not about to make a trade with a team we're in a playoff race with,
may be you said it a million times but you'r e wrong also a million times ;
Perreault had a non-trade clause for the first 2 years of his 3 years contract ! and now it's the 3 th year of it
My bad, I wasn't aware of this.
So assuming he can be traded to NYI, why would BG do it? Perrault isn't going to fetch more than a draft pick, and it would be dumb to give the Islanders a boost when they're in the playoff race with us.
the more we wait , the less he's going to cost for the team but the close is going to be of the free agent statut , than his value down for us ....
what do you think about that ?
I think it is better to wait, at least for a while. The fact that he is a UFA after this year only makes him more tradeable, as a team can trade for him with no future obligation. The possibility of a lockout will work in the favour of all GMs looking to deal impending UFAs.
Perreault still has value. His faceoffs and scoring are attractive to any playoff team looking for a rental. And he could be an adequate emergency replacement for a team facing several injuries. Clarke, for instance, was desperate enough to give up Ouellet and good draft picks for Oates.
Of course Perreault is not Oates. But in the right circumstances Gainey might be able to get something surprisingly good. Might as well just wait for offers.
