The Anaheim Ducks have signed Goaltender J.S. Giguere to a multi-year contract extension. Details to follow...

Wow, great job by Burke in locking up Giggy. I was hoping we could get him, but I'm glad he's staying put.

Says 4 years, $24 million. $6 million per sounds pretty damn good to me.

6 mil a year 24 mil, not bad, he would make 7 on the open market I would think. Now if the Ducks can resign Selanne and convince Neids to stay

6 is a good number...

he's earned it...now trade Bryz for a young d-man who can fit in as a #4 or #5 d-man right away.

WC, I gave you a shout-out on the main thread. Nice work.

That fourth year might not be great, but you have to break a few eggs, etc. Good deal for one of the league's most clutch goaltenders.

In terms of capology, I wonder what this means about rumoured retirements, if anything.

This is great news! I'm so happy Jiggy is staying a Duck for the next four years. Not too bad money wise. I agree Jiggy could probably have gotten more on the open market which tells me he really wanted to stay here. Bravo Burkie, keep this championship team together.

Now let's get Teemu and Scotty off their delusions of retirement and do this thing one more time!

Wow, fantastic! He's one of the best in my books, and theres no reason he won't keep up his level of play for the length of the contract. Great deal!

Great news!

No overpayment there, which I was afraid of after Phillys signings of Timonen and Hartnell and the Sharks overpayment of Rivet.

$6 mil is great, Im sure he had some better offers from other teams in this league.

Yay for Jiggy, the Ducks, and Burkie!!!

Question though: how come the Ducks website says,
Quote:
Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.
while NHL.com and TSN.ca listed the contract price of $24 mil for 4 years?

Just a weird club policy. I guess it makes it so they don't have to discuss contracts with the media much and keep things like incentives somewhat secret.

Yes, this is a very good deal for the Ducks. Jiggy most likely would have gotten much more on the open market.

Good on Jiggy and Brian Burke for getting this deal done.

Great to see him staying with the Ducks. Should help in getting better value for Bryzgalov as teams looking for a goalie will be more desperate and won't have to just wait for July 1st to get Giggy. Another good move by Burke.
