Toskala is 30...hardly "young". I don't think it's a good move for Toronto. Their goaltending is barely upgraded and he's yet to sign, and Mark Bell is awful.

Toronto gave up too much, I agree Toskala is a small upgrade over Raycroft. Mark Bell hasnt been the same since all that office stuff happened to him.
Wonder how Toskala does in a city with more pressure and a defense and team that is not nearly as good as SJ.

Mark Bell isnt that bad, more of a physical presence and stuf San Jose shouldnt have moved Toskala after Nabokov had one good comeback year so Toronto made golden on this deal i believe

Boston's new sweater:

It looks really nice. Hopefully the Flyers' new sweaters look just as nice and one of them is orange.

It's being reported that Nylander has re-signed with the Rangers. I will try and provide a link when I can.

well I hope its true because that would take them pretty much out of the running if they wanted to bring in Gomez. They also want to resign Shanahan as well.
I dont think he would have been a good fit here because allot of his success has to do with the chemistry he has with Jagr.

Flames sign Primeau

...Wayne, that is.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=212166&hubname=

Did I get anyone's heart to skip a beat? Cause mine did when I saw this headline.

Is $4.2 million over 3 years an idea of what people are gonna be paying for other UFA's? Cause that seems like a bit of an overpayment for Wayne IMHO.

Yeah I read the first paragraph wrong. I still think that's a bit of an overpayment, but if the Flames can afford him good for him. Boy I miss Keith though.

Breaking...Craig MacTavish just told me live on my radio show that the Oilers have brought back Dick Tarnstrom...they're very happy about the addition, obviously. No details on money or term...more to come...

Maybe this will quell all the Oilers fans proposals for Pitkanen now that they acquired an offensive dman.

Probably not.

Yeah hopefully. There's also a new rumour that they're trading for Kubina. Anything to keep their minds off Pitkanen. The Carolina rumour has died down as well.

Scott Nichol re-signs with the Predators.

2 year, 750 K per year

Guess we can scratch him of the last as a 4th line hopeful.

Joe Thornton 3 year extension at 7.2m per year. Good for the Sharks.

That's a hometown discount. Even still, there's no chance I pay any of the guys out there more than Thornton today.

No, I don't think they'll effect the players today at all.

What they'll effect is the GMs who think they can lowball because of the Thornton news only to watch another team overpay and snag said player.

Thornton might turn out to be the deal of the century.

7.2 mil is a bargain. Sadly, someone is going to pay more for one of the big free agents. Joe must really love San Jose or hate is agent.
