Greg Moore

Can someone explain to me how is Greg Moore making more money than Marcel Hossa, Petr Prucha, Ryan Hollweg, Blair Betts, Pock and Orr

http://outsidethegarden.com/salaries.asp I dont understand how a mid round pick is making more money than NHL regulars.

the fact that those other guys are in the nhl means little cause some of those guys are still on entry level deals. moore was a 5th round pick, prucha was a 8th round pick so the 5th round pick gets more $$ on the entry level contract which in general is how it should work.

but it really doesn't matter. moore's making like $50k down in hartford and when prucha gets his next contract it will reflect his play in the nhl.

What about Moore getting more than Betts.

He's a fine player in the AHL. Puts in a great effort every game. Plays very hard. Not an offensive player at all right now.

Those numbers are for what Moore would be making were he in the NHL. He's not and I suspect like practically all prospects he's on a two way contract--or in other words playing for considerably less money (as long as he's in the AHL) than you see on the OTG website. He probably made somewhere between 50 and 100K last season.

Yes, he sustained massive head injuries from an impact with the inside wall at Fontana. Hearing the Wolfpack players' name always reminds me of the late, great Canadian driver.

That number ($725,000) isn't his salary, that's the cap hit. And cap hits include a rookie signing bonus and any inventive bonuses that are written into the contract. Look at the same list and you'll see that Lundqvist's cap hit is over $1.8 million--although his salary was around $800,000. Also, rookies on their first professional contract in the AHL generally receive 10% of their NHL salaries--so he's probably made closer to $60,000 last season.
