I think its gonna be great for whoever picks Cherepanov. This draft just solved the problem of motivating the guy (if there was a problem in the first place), for free.

I don't think this will make him want to hide in Russia. I think this will make him want to come over here and rip up the league..

Either way, I think they're foolish. But I'm not getting paid to pick players, they are.

8:43 I wrote a bundle of stuff after talking to Alzner, but lost it all because of the dicey wireless here. Anyway, Iíll try to recap. Alzner gave us a 12-minute interview, then kept talking to some other guys. Iíve never seen a kid talk more than five minutes or so in all my years of covering these things. He played with Caps defenseman Jeff Schultz at Calgary of the WHL and the two are offseason workout buddies, too. Alzner is going to call Schultz, who is back in Washington at the unveiling......And you should know this. Despite published reports to the contrary, the Caps never had interest in using the No. 5 pick to take Alexei Cherepanov.

Gillies over Cherepanov.

That's like taking Sutherby over Semin.

Interesting that taking Cherepanov never entered GMGM's mind. I wonder if he's even on their radar at all...

Move up!

That 2nd and the 28th might get em talking. Heck, throw in a prospect or a pick next year.

Much like the Caps not moving up to get Parise, and the Boulez sitting tight and taking Jeffries instead of moving up a slot or 2 (only one slot was needed) and getting Caron Butler, I have the distinct feeling one of these guys will be gone right before we pick. We're gonna rue the day we didn't move those picks to get one of them. Pure idiocy, go for the high ceiling guy, 3 low ceiling 2nd rounder caliber players is not better than 1 very high ceiling top 5-10 caliber guy.

I could see the rangers taking Cherpy. They are a very european team. But again, wouldn't surprise me to see him continue to fall.

Interesting that Cherepanov was never on GMGM's board for the 5th pick according to vogel.

I have to admit, I'm no Cherepanov fan but this is getting ridiculous....and eerily like Semin in his draft year only worse.

To think I (we), thought the #5 might have trade value for someone who wanted to grab Cherepanov.

way off on that lol.

Tear.

NY will probably ruin him like it did Bure and Kovalev. NY has too much wodka.

not many people would want to go from mid-teens to 28....would you?

Knew he wouldn't get by the Rangers
