Buffalo-Calgary Proposal

To Buffalo: Rhett Warrener
To Calgary: Jaroslav Spacek, Buffalo's 2nd rd. pick in 2007

Both teams dump a player that really isn't wanted anymore. Spacek could play well with a physical defenseman like Phaneuf. Buffalo needs a physical defenseman like Warrener.

Overpayment from Buffalo IMO. Especially considering Rhett's recent injury troubles.

I would very much like to see Warrener back on the Sabres, if he is still able. I would offer a 3rd round pick for his services, maybe slightly more. Thats it though.

Spacek's not much more than a salary dump in the deal - Spacek + 4th for Warrener?

As a Flames fan I think this is a great deal, but I think it is overpayment. A second round pick should be enough. In saying that I can't see the Flames parting ways with Warrener.

I have a feeling Calgary fans will jump all over that deal. I think you might get something better from Edmonton for that package. They might toss you Smith or Staios.

How much is Warrener making? It might be overpayment, but we are trying to dump salary in Spacek.

Then again, after picking up Aucoin, how much cap space does Calgary have left?

Considering Adrian Aucoin was brought to join Phaneuf and Giordano for the offensive d-men spots, it wouldn't serve any purpose to even consider Spacek. Add the fact that Spacek hasn't done anything spectacular since he was in Edmonton, where they might be interesting in bringing him back.

Warrener makes around $2.3 mil.

Interesting

...for the fact that every time Warrener is new or traded, the team he goes to ends up in the SCF. Fla - 96, Buff - 99, Flames - 04.Downside is they've lost all three times.

Id say Spacek for Warrener would be better but not a bad proposal. Offensive defenceman for Defensive Defenseman
