BPA has been our forte...stay with success.

I'd LOVE another forward but any positional player with talent that drops to us is great.

Players I'd want
1-Maxim Mayorov LW
2-Mike Hoeffel LW
3-Oscar Moller RW
4-Brett MacLean LW
5-Bill Sweatt LW
6-Colby Cohen D
7-Jeremy Smith G
8-Keven Veilleux C
9-Linden Rowat G
10- Akim Aliu C

I like MacLean and Sweatt better than Moller. I also like Tommy Cross as a potential candidate on D. And Maxime Tanguay is also still out there.

How about offering contract rights for Rachunek and Weekes for some #2 pick? Think some club would be interested? Probably not, but it's worth a try.

What about Michael Biega? Or is it a stretch at #48?

I've got to think that Slats trades down for a 3rd round pick.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Pick up a later second and a third, or maybe a high third and fourth.

With our next pick I am hoping we can get Defensemen Drew Mackenzie

the rangers have a definite need for a goalie. Holt is a mediocre prospect at best. Montoya wont be a ranger for more than another year, and there is NOBODY in the pipeline after that. Drafting a goalie was a no brainer, and its what i personally predicted yesterday after the cherpanov pick.

If that's not the case then I don't get this pick. Someone said it's refilling the cupboard which is as barren as possible (or something like that)... Considering Lundqvist looks like our starter for the next 10 years and Montoya is one of the best goalie prospects outside the NHL, I don't see how we really need another young goalie.

Not to mention, we could have traded back and taken this guy later. Some decent skaters were still on the board.
I would have picked a forward and addressed goaltending later but Montoya is not going to be with the organization (unless something catastrophic happens) in a year. This is good long range planning.

I see Maxim Goncharov just got picked. Any other top end talent still dropping?

A little surprised that the Rangers went with a goalie with many talented players still on the board. I'm thinking that if our scouts(especially the Euro's)felt there was a must have player there, we would have taken him.

They swung for the fences with Cherry, so they must be getting back to basics and addressing serious needs.

Good Lord, 3 picks away and there both still there! Tanguay too (and we all know how Slats likes bloodlines).

Could it be TWICE in the same draft? God bless thick-headed, Xenophobic Canadian-born GMs.

Edit: We're up and they're both still there!

I like Aliu, but the character issues concern me. How far do you guys think he will fall?

Not a fan of Lafleur...allows too many soft goals...and isnt mentally tough.

Thats just my opinion though, ive seen a lot of him over the past 2-3 years.

I would've rather had Kent Patterson in this spot but he's not a bad pick.

Whoops. Guess they didn't want to wait any longer to take a goalie. Went with LaFleur.

As a backup goalie not a bad pick. Makes you wish you still had that 3rd cus you could have had him then. Maybe Benoit Alleire can get more out of him. We still need to grab lightning in a bottle a finally get a center somewhere. Maybe this is not the right draft for it but I have a feeling.
