There are a few more Campbells than just one. Ie. Gregory (Colin's son) & Soupy in Buffalo.

He was named the OHA Player of the Year and is the top ranked prospect (#103 as per the CSS) from that league.
I'm a little surprised by this pick. No offence to max Campbell, but why are trolling the junior B league for a prospect.

Who will be this year's Ryan Lasch?

Last year, St. Cloud's Ryan Lasch scored a bunch of points in a relatively weak Ontario junior league, and people questioned how that would translate to college hockey. Lasch ended up scoring a lot of points with the Huskies last season and was one of the WCHA's top rookies.

This year, Western Michigan's Max Campbell looks like that player. Campbell scored 95 points in 46 regular season games in the Jr. B Western Ontario Hockey League. Campbell is listed at 6'0" and will likely be an NHL draft pick this summer, whereas Lasch went undrafted due to his size, but Campbell could end up having a year like Lasch did.

I don't know much about US college hockey. Is that a strong program?

I don't know why he'd be a bench warmer.

I doubt he starts off on the 1st line, but college teams usually don't have too many guys riding the pine and usually not guys who are top recruits like Campbell was.

He'll start off on the 3rd or 4th line most likely and work his way up.

Are you asking if he'll immediately be on the first line (technically starting the game) ?

I believe he is either the brother or some other relative of the Sabres' Brian Campbell.

Both were born in the same town.

Just checked Wikipedia and they don't list Max as a brother of Brian. So maybe cousin?

What an improvement he made. Almost tripled his point total from the previous year. 35 to 95.

In the NHL media guide he says he patterns his game after Pavel Bure, his favorite player growing up. Not much else about his game

I guess this guy must have SPEED, and he does score in his league. Albeit a unknown league.

Not much info but he does sound pretty good. Averaging 2 points per game and averaging a goal a game is solid. Having 23 PP goals, he must have a good shot.

I had pretty much written him off because I thought Buffalo would take him in the 3rd or 4th.

Nice to see him falling to us.

If the guy has offensive talent, then good. An offensive C was a need, and it was addressed. Let's see who the next Henke will be in the coming rounds.

Is he slated to be a starter in Western Michigan or a back up?
