I spoke to Cherepanov at the Combine and I have him on tape saying that he has 2 more seasons on his contract with Omsk. Although, at the time, he indicated that he probably would come over after that, it looks as if he changed his mind and will come after the 2007-08 season.

He already said he plays in Omsk next season. It may not be better place than Hartford to live, but Avangard is much better place to play. RSL is the second best league in the world. AHL will probably hardly make first 10.

His agent stated that the kid has an agreement with Omsk that will allow him to come to NA after the 07-08 season.

I guess that regardless of his draft position he may have commited himself to the team for this season coming in exchange for allowing him to leave the following year.

Based on what? Just a salaries? Swiss Hockey league is better then AHL, Let alone Finnish, Czech, German and even French. Hockey is as popular in France as it is in USA, i.e. most do not know much about the sport.
Salary wise RSL beats SEL hands down. Oil money, my friend, do wonders...
