Boynton or Stuart

The fourth period has a new article stating the Kings are looking at Brad Stuart and inquired about Nick Boynton? Boynton has a 3 million dollar contract and is a little meaner than Brad, but Stuart is a better skater...?

Which one would you take? I'm for Boynton at this point. Stuart has been all hype for the past 2 years, but he has the skills to hang with Johnson and Visnovsky...

I imagine that Dean was told "the heck we're gonna trade Boynton to a Pacific division rival," and that was the end of that. I wouldn't spend much time on that possibility.

Stuart will cost only $$$$$ come July 1st, the Kings aren't in much position to give up roster players or quality prospects to TRADE to get Boynton ... and I'd say Boyton showed himself to be nothing but HYPE last year, kinda why they already want to get rid of him, no ?

OF just the two Brad Stuart by a MILE.

There were a couple of comments in another thread that made me think the Yotes fans don't think too highly of Boynton.

Boynton-No way the Yotes deal him to a division rival.
Stuart-He's not first on my list, but if he comes for less than than I expect him to go for, I'll be ok with it.
Hannan-I think he's due for too much money for what he brings in the new NHL.
Souray- is my first choice. As much as people knock his defensive play, he's the best mentor style wise for Double J imo. I don't see Dean signing him to a large contract though with Blake's 6 million on the books.

Stuart is one of the top 10 most talented defensemen in the league, but he can never seem to put it all together. When I saw him last season, he couldn't seem to hit the side of a barn with his shot from the point.

Out of those 2 id choose Boynton easily, from what i've seen of him he plays with a lot of heart, but it's very unlikely he'd be dealt to the Kings.

Really? From what I can tell, most of us think very highly of him.

I'd choose neither. Lombardi has already wasted enough money on question marks that didn't pan out. Neither guy is a building block to a Cup champion, save the money and spend it on forwards and wait until the "right defensemen" comes along.

I add my vote to Hannan.

So for Boynton vrs Stuart.

Boynton everyday. What is his contract status?

Hehe man that would be a good (and expensive) d-man core.

Blake
Lubo
JJ
Hannan
Boynton
Hopefully someone cheap.

heh

Means **** without a goaltender though...we lack in the two most important positions. Good defense and goaltending. Lack may be too kind.

I'd have to say I agree with about 90% of your posts.

I'm pretty much led to believe that DL, Crow, and now O'Connell can only shop in their previous back yards. They certainly love to talk about their past (maybe just DL). But c'mon there are 27 frickin' other teams in the league. What a horrible pulse on it. It's either ex-Kings with the old brass and now it looks like ex-players with the new. Lombardi always talked of a cozy network but he's no different.

I swear if we sit on our hands again and spin some **** on a cheesy mucker I think i'll puke.
Cammy and Lubo should have already been sorted as well. Contracts are becoming a mess all over again.

Don't forget that TSN says Blake had major hip surgery and may not be ready for the start of the season. Knowing Rob Blake he'll be on the beach somewhere counting his millions. I think having another QB back on D like Schneider, Preissing, Hamrlik or Souray is a better option that question marks like Boynton or Stuart.

Yeah the Kings are going to be in a bind in a few years when the contracts to Kopitar, Johnson, Brown all end around the same time. They keep talking about a commitment to Brown, Cammy, and Lubo, but where are there extensions?

Florida locked up Horton, the Ducks re-signed Giguere....

I don't care really on either one but this team needs two defenseman in the top 6 and it should be the main priority even above goaltending come 7/1/07.

Stuart, Hannan, etc. are just going to cost money. Boynton would cost us assets and personally I think he's overpaid and overrated.

The one guy that could come in as a # 5 guy and really help and take over for Miller is Greg DeVries. I would not mind seeing this guy for $1.5 million.
