5. Rafalski got 4.2 and Luko had 1 so that's 10.2 if we wanted to sign Shanny and Gomez but I don't think so, I was just saying that is all. Gomez might sign there, it's impossible to tell where his head is at this point. I know he likes to play at MSG and he wouldn't have to leave where he lives to play there, so I have no idea what he's thinking, he could sign there it's too hard to tell.

I know I'm not taking a million or half a million less to play with a friend.

Sorry, just not happening.
Would you take .5 million more to play with a friend?

Say that after you've made millions of dollars and played in the league for a number of years. Others have done it before, and many more will do so in the future. I'm not suggesting that Gomez will, but that fact is that many would.

I don't even think they've begun negotiating, just general discussions. I think Lou's #1 priority is Drury IMO.

I know your just adding it in but at the end of the day it's business. If the Rangers are willing to pay an extra million he will play for them.

Will Gomez take a pay cut to play with Shanny on NYR, I doubt it lol

The fact it has gotten to this stage has only to do with one thing, and that is $$

If he said never, they can offer what they want. IMO He's a King, Duck (IF Nieder retires), or Canuck (if they can clear a few guys)

Are you guys willing to break the bank for him? Because someone will offer him top dollar. I'm sure of it and I'm afraid it might be Philly.

Talk about choosing between two poisons as a Devils fan.

If he retires we could be screwed because I'm sure they will eye up Rafalski before Gomez.

Too bad the new home of the Devils is not in West New York. Maybe Shanahan would bite then.

I actually think that they will make Briere their top choice.

There is a chance that Buffalo will loose both centers, and not just one as originally thought.

oh, that's simple.

1998-1999
Robert Lang, 21 goals. 44 points.
Matrin Straka 35 goals. 83 points.
Jaromir Jagr 44 goals. 127 points

1999-2000
Robert Lang, 23 goals. 65 points.
Matrin Straka 20 goals. 59 points.
Jaromir Jagr 42 goals. 96 points

2000-2001
Robert Lang, 32 goals. 80 points.
Matrin Straka 25 goals. 95 points.
Jaromir Jagr 52 goals. 121 points

That line tore it up oh so many years ago. They have some undeniable line chemistry.

As far as Gomez goes, I thought I read that those two are buddies so what's the big deal that they are working out together? I doubt Gomez is going to take a discount to play with his buddy at this point in his career. Plus, I'm sure he has other buddies throughout the league he'd like to play with.

Kariya and Selanne in Anaheim. Does anyone else remember Selanne's base salary in 04 being below the league average by about 500K, just so they could play together in Colorado?

For what it's worth, Claude Lemieux used to train with Wayne Gretzky in the offseason, and then ended up signing in Phoenix after the Devils won in 2000.

I know Gomez is not Claude Lemieux, but it's still a possibility.

I see him in a Canucks uniform. I heard he wants to be close to home, to his family in Alaska. I think Vancouver will pony up, as they desperately need a top line center. Morrison just can't cut it.

At least we can agree on the fact that we hate the Flyers.

I agree that Philly will go after Briere as well. They're slowly starting to stray away from that Broad Street Bullies approach all throughout the lineup like it was for all of those years.

I think Buffalo might lose both as well. Their top priority right now is resigning Vanek, and I haven't heard a damn thing about his status. They better start doing something, because time is ticking.

Is it possible that Philly is only expressing interest in Nylander to drive up the price for the Rangers?

That wasn't the line.

Jagr played with Lemieux and Stevens, when Lemieux came back, and Straka-Kovalev-Lang was the big line.

I remember because during the playoffs in the ECF, they mentioned that line, and how they were they were the 2nd ranked line in scoring, scoring a total of 270 points between them, 2nd only to Colorado's top unit of Sakic-Hejduk-Tanguay, which scored 274 points.

Someone please answer this question, if shanny & gomez are friends of the ice, how many times in the past have they worked out together? I would think the answer is often. Since I honestyly think the actual answer is seldom, I would place a great deal of significance on their working out together. Posters on this site are often stupidified at how quickly peole sign on UFA day and then they turn around an ignore an event such at Shanny & Gomez working out togther.

Other teams players can actually act as recruiters, it happens all the time. There is no law against it. As far as Drury going west, he could go north, he could go south, he could stay in the ast and he could actuallt sign with the team he rooted for as a kid.

Gomez isn't coming here. Firstly, he doesn't want to play here. Secondly, it would be foolish to break the bank for having him here. He's not worth $7+ million or so, no way. He's good, but not $7 million good. And all of you who whined on Nylander for not shooting/scoring enough... while Gomez fired around 50 shots more than Nylander, he only scored half as much with a shot percentage as a defenseman...

And that constant mention of signing Lang... there's a reason why Detroit doesn't want to re-sign him and why all Detroit fans detest him. Hint: it's not because he's been freaking good.
