Marek Zidlicky

Now here's a guy i'd like to get back on D. I heard the Rangers are looking into his availability. When I think Zidlicky I think three things 1) undoing a mistake of letting him go to be begin with 2) he's czech, its bound to work 2) PP Points !!!!!!!-----------I hope they make some kind of a pitch.

After trading Timmonen I'd have to think that the chances of the Preds moving Zidlicky are slim to none. Who would they have left to play d. He's staying in Nashville atleast for the time being.

Zidlicky is going to be the Preds top d-man for a long time. I don't think they are going to trade him any time soon.

Depending on the cost he might be a great pickup...Better then any free agent defensemen...

What would the cost be?

Is this the sort of player Prucha is dangled for???

I'm not sure about that...but I can see the Rangers doing it..

This isn't somebody that would come cheap...

Don't be surprised if Marek Zidlicky is the next player traded out of Nashville.

The Predators continue to shed salary in an effort to make the team less competitive so that it won't attract the 14,000 fans needed to keep the club in Nashville beyond the 2007-08 season. Most telling was this quote from Preds' GM David Poile, "Right now, we have an owner who really doesn't want to be an owner and he wants to cut the payroll".
Source: Calgary Sun

Looks like they are looking to move him. He is going to make 3.5 million this season. A combination of draft picks and a solid prospect might get it done. Don't know who I would give up for him though.

Not quite true, Zidlicky had quite a poor year last year with only 4 goals and 26 assists. Additionally, he was 4th amongst defencemen on the team in AVG time on ice. Even without Timmonen they have Hamhuis, Suter, and Weber already up with Franson on his way. Needless to say they are quite deep at the blueline with Zidlicky being the least "complete" of the bunch.

I dont think they would be too opposed to a trade

Rachunek and Prospect should do it. He had a very poor year and is a liability on D. Could be an option as QB for the PP though. Nash is in dumping mode and they will move him.

Can't trade cash any more, the new CBA doesn't allow it.

No wa the Preds trade Zidlicky. They have a stud core of defense, with him, Suter, and Weber, and even they they have reduced their payroll a bit by trading Vocoun, Mason can flat out play. They got something for nothing, in my opinion, when trading Timmonen and Hartnell, since they had no intentions to re-sign either of them, and Forsberg won'tbe back. I can see Kariya re-upping, and along with guys like Arnott, Dumont, Erat, Radulov, and a healthy Sullivan, the Preds are still a good team.
