WOW! Thats really shocking. More and more its looking like between the juice, pain killers and other recreational drugs that pro wrestlers are just killing themselves. How many is that in the last few years. Atleast 4 or 5 big names. When you consider how many "big name" guys are out there the mortality rate is pretty staggering.

RIP Benoit!

It seems to me that his entire family was also found dead. This probably had nothing to do with drugs. Although we're just beginning to see the effects of taking said drugs upon the aging body.

He was scheduled to win the ECW title last night at the PPV. He told Vince he had a family issue to deal with and rushed out of the building and home. It is horrible but was it murder suicide or was it as simple as a gas leak? till official reports come out it is no use in guessing

1wrestling indicates his wife and kid were spitting up blood, hence him no-showing Vengeance last night. Seems an awful lot like Carbon Monoxide to me.

RIP Wolverine

Wow... just... wow.

I really don't know what to say...

I can't believe this.

I watched this guy for YEARS growing up. I remember him as a kid, just a bit older than me when I first saw him in WCW, and then again in New Japan. It's absolutely shocking to think that he's dead.

I remember Eddie a few years ago, and that floored me. I liked Eddie, but I wasn't his biggest fan. Benoit I was a big fan of. I always liked the Wolverine even from his days with The Late Version of The 4 Horsemen, which is arguably the greatest Alliance ever created in Wrestling History, in my opinion.

One of my all-time favorites... just dead. Another one bites the dust.

Owen, Andre, Gorilla Monsoon, Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Bam Bam, Hawk... the list just goes on.

RIP Chris... we already miss you.

It's really sad how this is becoming almost routine for pro-wrestlers. Sounds like this wasn't a pain-killers/steroids thing but all these guys I watched when i was a wrestling fan as a little kid as dead. Sad.

and Rod Beck too! bad week

I for one cannot believe this. I used to be a big time wrestling fan and I'd copy all of his moves. He was a great man and a great part of the WWF/WWE organization. I read this and I couldn't believe it. I just watched him on TV recently out of boredom then this. First Gurerro now Benoit. This is crazy. I am still in shock over this news.

One of the greatest of all time. I haven't watched wrestling in years but I always loved the Crippler. I'll never forget when he said he did not believe in luck, but in hard work and discipline. You have to love the guy. I hope he rests in peace. Damn shame about his son and wife too.

The only police statement so far is there was no guns involved. Could he have been called home and found them both dead then od'd himself?

The loss of the Benoit family is truly a tragedy. I always liked Chirs, especially after his great bouts with Mr. Jericho (my all time favorite wrestler).

RIP

i literally just stopped watching wrestlemania 9 since i found these old tapes full of this wrestling stuff. got on the computer and boom "chris benoit and family found dead"
thats just... dont know how to explain it.
i sorta grew out of wrestling, but when i was a kid in the 80s i always thought its real and i loved the storylines especially loved the undertaker and tito "el matador" santana characters, and i was absolutely involved. and to hear that someone died who brought so much fun and joy into my home is just saddening.

i really wonder what happened.
last thing i read was that they are investigating it as a homicide..

AP Report says that they're investigating it as a homicide.

Found that out from a good friend of mine, and big-time wrestling fan.

OMG, if it is, this is a bigger tragedy then I first thought. What kind of person would kill a kid?

I don't know, but if it is a homicide, the person that did it deserves a fate worse than death itself.

This is absolutely horrible, and as a long-time hardcore wrestling fan, since I was about two years old, - I actually learned to read at that age JUST so I could read what they were saying in PWI, and Pro-Wrestling, and in WWF magazines - this has really struck me.

I couldn't believe it.

I saw it on the main page, because it was a new thread, and I didn't believe it at first. But when I saw Dagoon's screen name up there, I knew it had to be real, as Dagoon is a hardcore wrestling fan with a vast array of wrestling knowledge both past and present. He was the one who informed me of Bam Bam Bigelow's death, not too long ago.

It's alright... after hearing the causes of Brian Pillman's and Curt Hennig's deaths, one would tend to think the same, especially for a wrestler who was peaking at somewhat of a younger age, like Benoit was.
