because Ranger fans consider a player an established NHLer after 14 games.

I'm with you Bluenote. I like what I saw from Cally last season too much to not vote for him in this spot.

I can see where you're coming from, but they're both eligible under Hockey's Future criteria... and this is HFBoards so I don't see why they shouldn't be there.

Agreed. I don't see what the problem is. Neither even played a full season with us.

hmmm now is that a shot at me or at all Ranger fans? Funny, I thought Ranger fans were the ones who considered a kid who scored 52 goals in 2 pro seasons NOT an established player...

Girardi has played over 110 games at the AHL level and 44 games at the NHL level and will not even be considered a "rookie" next year, so not considering him a "prospect" is not exactly an earth shattering concept.

As for Callahan, while not "established" he played 63 games at the AHL level and 24 games (including playoffs) at the NHL level, and seems to be a lock to make the team. That, along with the fact he plays like a veteran, makes it hard for me to compare him to someone coming out of juniors or has never seen the NHL ice.

Not that it matters, most of this is for sh*ts and giggles. Anyway, I voted for Cally...

bourret just barely over Callahan. I loved what I saw from Callahan this season and he certainly can be a second line scoring winger in the NHL IMO, BUT Bourret has the skills to be a star. First line winger potential, which Callahan, as much as I lvoe him, does not SEEM to have. I mean, the way he has developed recently it is certainly possible that Cally proves me wrong, but I will take the first line potential in Bourret at the moment and vote for Cally next round.

Cally and Girardi certainly are still prospects, they are still developing, have barely gotten their feet wet at the NHL level, for god sakes, Cally is only one year removed from juniors and you are calling him a vet already???

Bourret. Umm... I understand that under NHL rules, Cally and Girardi are still rookies. But for all intents and purposes, everyone is 99% sure that both of them will be in the starting line up next year. I personally think that both Girardi and Cally are graduated prospects.

They are not graduated. We are going by HF rules.

They are not graduated until they have been considered graduated by Hockeys Future.

Callahan with a slight edge over Bourret.

Add Immonen. Even if he doesn't play here, he'll get a few NHL games under his belt somewhere.

Guys c'on already, enough with the "I don't think they should be on the list". We've always went by the HF criteria of a prospect and its not going to change.

The only players that have graduated from the list are Thomas Pock and Bryce Lampman.

Right now I see it as:

Dubinsky
Bourret
Callahan.

I've just seen more from Dubinsky, at this point, than I have Bourret. I know we're all still drunk off Bourret's AHL playoff performance, but Dubi came in and impressed in his first playoffs with the pack too. And I don't know where all this "Bourret has fist line talent" talk came from. They guy gets hot at the end of the season and all of a sudden he jumps from 2/3rd line energy player to first line scoring talent? I like him as a prospect, but can we back up the train abit?

Callahan could easily be ranked above the other two based on his NHL performance, but utimately I see him as a very good third liner, and the other two might have a bit more than that in their futures.

But you could rank the three in any order and I'd be happy with it.

edit: while I'm at it, this is how I'll probably vote over the next handful of picks (as if anyone cared)

Dubinsky
Bourret
Callahan
Sanguinetti
Anisimov
Korpikoski
Girardi
Sauer
Dawes
Pyatt
Dupont

Add Pyatt

Interesting that no one is even talking about David Kveton, who was a point per game scorer in the Q last year. Not that he deserves to mentioned above anyone else on this list (he doesn't), but it's notable that there's a prospect scoring a point per game in juniors that no one is even talking about.

Edit #2: It's late, I have to work in the morning, I'm drinking, and I don't want to go to bed. So I decided that I would just continue to arbitrarily rank prospects. (Please understand that, after this point, arbitrary and uniformed don't even begin to describe how worthless my opinion is.) Here we go:

Byers
Kveton
Zaborsky
Reese
Potter
Liffiton
Moore
Ryan
Olver
Hillier
Beller

And now I come to the end of the prospects that I know ANYTHING about.
