he's a decent sized 20 goal scorer that can play both ends of the ice.. sure the goals have something to do with crosby, but we have kopitar to pass to him. still young at 25. would you lock him up at lets say 2.5?

D'oh, I created a topic about this too....didn't realize you had created one.

In any case, I would LOVE to see Oullet signed. He's a pretty impressive player from what I remember when I would watch the Pens on CI.

Out of curiosity, who would you classify as the 3rd liners the Kings currently have under contract?

As a Pens fan, if you want to improve I would advise against him.

His lack of defensive skills and physical play make him even more ill fit for 3rd line play than 2nd line.

I saw in another thread that Nils Ekman is available, and while I am sure Pens fans would give an emphatic thumbs down, the two seasons prior were pretty damn good in the Shark Tank. I'd DEFINITELY like to see him in a Kings uniform.

Precisely... we have Brian Willsie... who actually IS a good skater also scored 20 goals in a season on a team with a great young star (ovechkin) and he still manages to disappoint most Kings fans.

We don't need another one.

He couldnt mesh well with any of the Pens players for some reason. While you are right that many Pens fans would give a thumbs down I wouldnt. After a sub par year he should come at a price that can be easily afforded. Probably worth the risk.

Everytime a crappy player pops up people post "Do we want him?" Of course we don't, if his former team can't trade him and isn't willing to offer a minute 10 % raise to him, he pretty much sucks; except for Hall and Rachunek, whose former teams just wanted to cut salary.

Teams are emptying there trash and Kings fans are eager to pick it up.

Say no to all of them.

I agree. We should discount every player that is castoff from another team because there has never been a case where a player has gone on to do great things with a brand new team and a fresh start.

I knew you would see it my way.

McCauley, Bure and pretty much every castoff from a team that has ever came to the Kings has done nothing but excel.

I am surprised we havent won the cup, or at least made the playoffs using this system.

I think the only castoff that has ever been worth anything has been Kostopolous. So I guess there is one gem in every 10 we sign. But **** it, lets not sign that one gem and avoid those other 9 mistakes.

I think it's too broad a stroke to simply discount every castoff because you're trying to avoid failure. These players who are kicked to the curb (for the most part, among those who have been mentioned so far) won't be looking at big money so the financial risk won't be astronomical and at worst you provide a nice veteran presence for Manchester much like Brendan Buckley currently. Personally, I think it's minimal risk to potentially get that one diamond who could turn into someone like Martin St. Louis.

Maybe you get one diamond, but you get 9 or more pieces of cole taking up contracts, cap space and you have to watch on the ice. I can not recall the last piece of cole that they Kings signed that turned into a diamond. I'll give you we had some that may have been Cubic Zurconia (sp?) but thats about it.

This topic is specifically about Ouellet and the article talks about the Pens not wanting to pay his price tag, so I think for the most part you are looking at players who believe they should be paid more and the teams who do not feel they are worth it. So why, would they be worth it here?

In the TSN article, Shero also talked about the decision being about the system, which for me anyway, IS the story...What a friggin mess...

Pens fans say that he doesn't have even average speed and isn't defensively sound. Still want him?

Oullet is a good PP man, but his skating is below average, and defensive play is below average.

I would stay away from him, not at what he will ask for.
