One guy i'd like see on our blue line is Rozival. He wouldnt command top dollars (he doesnt have the stats to bck it up) and he would fit nicely in our top four making our D one of the best in the league.
We should aim higher. I don't want utility guys. Don't get me wrong I like Gorges but if the Habs would set their D right, we already have our 4 top D. Then get Valentenko a spot next year and trade for another guy. and we should be set for a couple of years.

I agree with you man and thats why its time to get rid of guys like Brisebois, Bouillon and Dandenault. But remember, we are in a cap world and a guy like Gorges is perfect for the situation; cheap, young, reliable and improving. I like his puck poise and his decision making. Hes also very good one on one and shows that you dont have to kill your opponent to take away the puck. He has nerves of steel, ive seen him make plays under pressure throughout the playoffs, something most of our Dmen couldnt do consistantly.

My defense line up for next year;

Markov-Komi
Hamrlik-Obyrne or UFA
Tank-Gorges

Not bad. But I still think we need a real puck-moving D aside from Markov. We dump Streit because even though he plays well on the PP, he cannot play at 5-on-5. So to do so we have to get somebody that has those skills to play on the PP but still play well at 5-on-5. That is why if I were the Habs I would do everything in my power to get Campbell. He really is what we need. He replaces two puck-moving Ds in Brisebois and Bouillon and replaces Streit on the PP. Because we cannot just have guys that play physical like non-moving blocks. We could sign Campbell as UFA and then keep Gorges as 7th D.

Campbell and Rozival are on top of my UFA list rather than the Hossas and Sundins of this world. Our top guns were never a problem for me. The inexperience of Price, the defense and the 3rd and 4th line is what needs to improve if we want to be contenders next year.

Just so you know, we're talking about a bottom pairing D here...

higher also means higher salary... chances are that if you get a guy twice as good as Gorges he'll cost you twice the salary, if not more...

you really think we'll be set by overpaying for 5th or 6th D ? well...
