if all else fails, you are better off brining up puriton for center

but seriously, if we get shut out of drury and gomez, maybe a one year deal would work nice as a stop gap till some more talent comes up

1 year for what his market price (under 2?)might not be so bad. He's always impressed me throughout his career.

Dale Purinton is a career AHL Equipment Manager. He'll never be good enough for the NHL.

yet the people on the rangers board (actual team board) were sweating his nuts all throughout his time with the team....hence another reason why i say most people on there don't know hockey....

I'd take him as a worst case scenario over Yashin.

The guy just can't skate very fast.

Live in toronto, seen his short stint as a leaf. Not sure if he has anything left.

I remember fans being furious that we picked up Rich Pilon(who actually played well for us) instead of letting Purinton play. A lot of people thought Purinton would be a Beukeboom clone, and we could just stick him with Leetch.

Let's play word association.

Jason Allison

Slow, lazy, injury prone, locker room cancer, best talent is collecting money while sidelined for one reason or another.

No thanks.

hence another reason why i say most people on there don't know hockey....considering he lacked one thing buek had...talent.

and pilon played head and shoulders above the level i thought he would play at. weren't the trainers giving him the baby formula stuff because they thought it would help with his injuries.

1 week it's Robert Lang, the 2nd it is Mike Comrie, and now we have resorted to Jason Allison. I don't know, maybe it is just me, but doesn't anyone else realize there has to be a reason why NO ONE signed him last season?

yea lets sign some injured players so when they get hurt we have a good excuse if we miss the playoffs id rather have Betts centre the 2ed line than Jason Allison.

1) you're on a message board. what do you really expect? we're gonna get posts from all over.

2) according to him, he took the year off for personal issues such as his divorce. there were also some injury things he took a year off to recover from.

if he's in good shape, then it's a matter of whether or not he fits your team. Shanahan and Avery have both said they want someone who can dish the puck on the 2nd line. Dubinsky needs to ease in. Ideally, he gets to play on the 3rd line. I don't know how good a passer Allision is but with those two, they can have a strong board play and deep puck pressure scoring line. I'd like to see...

Hossa-Nylander-Jagr
Avery-UFA-Shanahan
Prucha-Dubinsky-Straka
Cullen-Betts-Callahan

with Renney rolling all four lines. Briere and Gomez are probably the best dishers on the market. I don't know if we can afford Nylander and one of those guys (unless they are signing for like $6M).

If Immonen wasn't fast enough for Renney I doubt Allison is. Plus he doesn't fit in with the Rangers policy of having good personalities in the dressing room (Straka, Shanahan).

Comrie is a good player. Maybe he doesn't have a lot of size but he can keep up. He just went to the Stanley Cup finals which is a good experience to have. I wouldn't spend the cash on him I would on others but we could do worse than sign him if no one better is available.

Wondering what your thoughts were

regarding rolling the dice on Jason Allison for 1 year at 1-1.5 million?

That's in addition to re-signing Nylander and hopefully getting one of Briere, Drury, Gomez or Smyth

A 1 year deal for a guy that may have re-focused his attitude after not getting picked up may not be a bad thing.

Play him on the 3rd line with Cullen on one wing and Avery on the other

Straka - Nylander - Jagr
Shanny - Gomez - Prucha
Cullen - Allison - Avery
Hollweg - Betts - Orr

The question is "Is his head on straight?" after the embarrassment of not getting a sniff last year, he may be a changed individual.

Where is Callahan?

Where is Hossa?

Prucha and Shanny showed zero chemistry last season....Next year could be diffrent but is that something you would want to see again?

Hasn't the square peg in the round hole philosphy been proven to fail here? Hasn't the need for youth been proven to you yet?

Allison has no business on this roster....Would he really be that much of an upgrade over Dubinsky?

Pass. Jason Allison has always run into trouble because he thinks he's a first line guy, but he's actually a PP specialist. Running him on a third line like your scenario would only lead to him being unhappy and creating problems. There's a reason why a prefectly healthy guy with his skills spent last year watching hockey instead of playing hockey.
