Who can you think of that fits in this category?
I remember one fo the early games in Kloucek's he completly dominated physically against the NJ Devils. The devils completely lost their game and just wanted to get at Kloucek.

He hurt his knee and never was the same. I rank that up there with Cherneski as one of the worst injuries to a young player that never made it. He could have been a Jeff Beukeboom type of physical presence.

Nah.

I remember it pretty well. In 2001, he had taken two match game penalties, one of them against the Devils for throwing some absolutely HUGE hits.

He was one of the best open ice hitters I have EVER SEEN. He threw some absolutely DEVASTATING body checks.

He blew out his knee after the 2nd match game penalty, coming back from a suspension, and just hasn't been the same since.

Sad, because he had potential to be something, and was ALREADY an excellent hitter. With already posessing size and his decent one-on-one skills, if his speed and positional play could have improved, he would have been one hell of a defenseman.

Yeah he actually got hurt at the end of the season against the Thrashers. The Rangers where already eliminated (what else was new, back then). I remember when it happened -- didn't seem to be so bad. Just goes to show you how bad a knee injury can really be.

Wow! If you remember those guys you really are dating yourself. Actually, outta that group Mike Rogers and Walt Poddubny were pretty good players. Carey Wilson also wasn't too bad, he had some pretty good seasons for the Whale. Huber and Moller used to drive me crazy. Both had great size but hardly ever used it. Although, every once in a while Randy would have a really solid game and then disappear for the next half dozen or so.
Rochefort was a rock. Never forget how well he played in the Rendzevous series. I was psyched when we got him -- injuries ruined him really quick. Don't think he ever played a full season -- parts of two or three and then retired. Another potentially great NY Ranger cut down by injuries!
I gotta ask. Who the heck was Peter Walin?

lol, all these names bring back some real old memories (not necessarily bad memories, but sentimental memories of past ranger teams)

For whatever reason, I have a hard time believing that Guy Hebert and Mike Dunham played for the Rangers...and it was only like 5 years ago!

what is the point of this thread? Walt Poddubny scored 78 goals for us in two years. are we just throwing out names or what? and Mike Rogers is hard to remember?

I was wondering the same thing. I remember about 9 out of every 10 guys mentioned in this thread. I know I have a good memory, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't remember or know that, oh say, Tony Amonte played for the Rangers.

On the other hand, good call by frozenrubber. Glen Sather.

edit - case in point, look at the list in the previous post. How do you not remember every single one of those guys?

He was never the same was an understatement, he's play on the ice completly changed.
