Save of the year

Aebischer vs Morrison tonight.
absolutley jaw dropping save.

morrison had an open net but abby got his blade of his stick on the puck which was in the air mind you not even just sliding across the ice. man what a save

How about Belfour on Dackell. Dackell had a wide open net, and Belfour just willed the shot wide

Hmm. The announcers kept saying it hit the post. It was a bad angle so I couldn't tell. Cloutier on Selanne was nice too.

no, it was clearly a robbery by Abby.

the one on selanne wasnt as nice becuase it was along the ice and there was like two sets of legs in the crease as well.

Personally I could have swore the Selanne one hit someone in the crotch before getting to Cloutier.

Sounds like the same save Caron made against Montreal. More blind luck than anything.

Cloutier made just as good a save on Selanne out of position and had to dive across the crease with the paddle to stop him on an open net.

So is hitting people in the crotch an epidemic running through the Avalanche locker room?

i was pretty sure Abby got it with his stick as well (kept thinking to myself "are you guys blind?"). purely luck, but a great save nonetheless.

save of the year? god no.

The fact that ESPN feels that way pretty much downgrades it in my mind.

These stick saves are nice but are far too common to be this hyped. It seems like there's another rolling puck/floating puck stick save in the crease every second week.

yeah, hit sopel in the crotch before selanne got another shot i think
in any case, it was a lot of luck involved on both saves. sorta like how theodore robbed naslund with the knob of his stick when naslund was going blocker side high
personally, i liked the vokoun spin-o-rama save with his stick better

Vokoun had a brilliant save against Brent Sopel in the dying seconds of the third period earlier this December. It was a pretty darn stunning save, and one of the best I've seen all season, if not the best.

I was thinking the same thing as Wookie and Jacob when I read the post.

Caron had what I would say was an even better save last night against the Hawks. He's been standing on his head lately for the Pens.

He must mean save of the season, because there are at least two others in 2003 that are better than that one. Dan Cloutier's mid-air stick save to rob Jarome Iginla on an empty net, and JS Giguere's stick save Marian Gaborik in the Western Conference Finals.

Save of 2003 has to be when the puck landed on Theodore's back and he gloved it before it banked off him and into the net.

Giguere's skate save on Modano in the playoffs was a beaut also.
