Why Weren't The Rangers This Active Last Year?

I'm happy we addressed our needs for two centers, yet at the same time I can't help but feel concerned in that we gave superstar dollars to two guys who aren't superstars.

I'm curious but how come last offseason we didn't have this kind of pursuit?
I love Drury and all, but him at 35 million, Gomez at 52 million?
Hard for me not to be left wondering why the Rangers didn't go after Savard who after scoring 90 points the past two seasons looks as if he is a bargin at 5 years 20 million given what he does on the power play.

THis kind of sours my day.
We could have had a more productive scorer for less.
