Briere-Gagne (who scored 40-odd goals on a crap Philly team) will be a good combo.

If I were to bet on the amount of pts scored for Gomez (who has wingers like Jagr).

I'd say that Briere scores 105ish

and Gomez high 80's- low 90's

Gomez isn't? Gagne's 6-0 195 lbs, not huge but not tiny. And they'll probably playing with Knuble.

Briere by at least 10 points. Maybe people are forgetting that Briere is better and has never consistently had the top linemates like Gomez. Gagne will be great on his wing. Gomez has played with Elias and Gionta extensively the past two years. Jagr is far superior than either, but that's one great line that Gomez has always taken advantage of.

Except Buffalo and New Jersey played opposing styles, no? N.J. always has been defense first, Buffalo had that run & gun game. It's not ridiculous to propose that Gomez racks up a few more points than his stay at Continental.

I think Briere ends up with more but it'll be close.

Ah, yes, and this seems to have been a real impediment for both of them in recent seasons.

Anyway... Briere's a tiny dude, but Gagne really isn't (6' 195-200 lbs).

Briere had 35 more points then Gomez did last year. Now while some of that likely had to do with system, you could also argue that Gomez had the superior linemates. Briere has been a top 10 PPG scorer since the lockout (was on pace for 99 his first year) and I don't really see that changing.

Furthermore, are we forgetting that the Rangers are a trapping team? They aren't the Devils, but this is not some run and gun offense that Gomez is going to play in. I don't expect the Flyers to play like Buffalo either, but I think their personnel lends more to up and down hockey then we've seen in the recent past.

I think Briere will have a similar year to last year playing with the best player he's played with and I think Gomez will get a spike back to his normal seasons (70 points or so), leaving Briere by more then 10 points. This all assumes that neither player gets hurt.

I dunno whether or not the Rags plan to play Gomez with Jagr, but if so he could have 60 assists. I think he'll narrowly out score Briere.

Gomez is a 70-80 point player, Briere can hit 100 this year.
