Actually it was the younger Ryder, Daniel. Ryder scored 2 goals to lead Team Atlantic to a 7-4 win over Team Quebec in their first game at the World U-17 Hockey tournament.
I forgot all about the U-17 tourney. I see my boy Swan got a point. Good for Ryder hope he can do as well as his older bro and maybe play for us someday.

I attended the game and found it very entertaining! Ryder was easily the most skilled player on the ice!! What a beautiful skater this guy is! He has NHL written all over him and I definitely expect him to be drafted in the 1st round in a couple of years time. In addition to his skating skills he has outstanding ice vision and fantastic passing skills. Also, like his older brother, he's not afraid to take the body and has a tremendous work ethic. This guy is going places!!!
Back to the game itself, I've never seen such an outrageous display of refereeing in my entire life. Team Atlantic was handed out 8 (yes folks that is eight) straight penalities in the 1st period, many of which were very questionable. This obviously took the momentum completey away from team Atlantic who had scored two goals in the first 4 minutes of the game. Quebec scored two 2 man advantage goals and the score at the end of the first period was tied at 2-2. Team Atlantic rebounded nicely in the next two periods to win the game 7-4 as Ryder was awesome. Imagine if we had Crosby on this team!!

How hockey has changed in my province... sigh...It used to be that the Quebec teams were, by far, the strongest at these competitions. I remember fondly the years with Waite, Turgeon, Fiset, etc... The team led by Waite even beat Team Russia in the finals (with Pavel Bure, wow, what a show that was). The talent has gone south in Quebec; the 17 and under is a proof of that. When was the last time the province won the competition?
I didn't see the game, but I don't think the Atlantic team dominated. Geez, the shots on goal were 52-23 for team Québec. Allowing 7 goals on 23 shots is Pathetic...
My friend, did you read my first post...8 straight penalties will tend to make the shot total a little skewed. Our goalie had to make a few decent saves, but most shots were not that challenging for PEI rocket goalie "Mior", a native newfoundlander.

I actually somewhat know and played with a guy on team Atlantic, Walker, he's an awesome goal scorer. Some of the guys I play with now also played with and against quite a few guys on team atlantic including Ryder. They have a good team but i'm still surprised they beat Quebec, I thought cause Crosby was in U-20 they wouldn't do to well.
For the people who will see the Atlantix games, could you check Dean Ouellet and do a little report on him...I know him a little bit because we were in the same school and I think he could beccome a NHLer.
