GDT: Wild at Oilers Dec. 30

Yet another of those deciding games. Since I haven't done one of these before, I hope the luck may change.

I predict 2-1, but I don't know who will win.

How about this for the winner? Luoma (1st NHL game) and Ferguson, 2 on 0, get chased down by Brad Brown, all the way from St. Paul, and a slower than average iceberg, but he scores on his own net when he realizes that it's the only way to make the game any fun. :p

I think this will finally be the game Oates scores. I have a good feeling about it (I had a dream last night that he scored). The weird part is, I am usually the one who scores in my dreams.

Actually I had the same feeling about him scoring today. Guess we'll see what happens.
3-1 win for the Oil tonight. I'm pretty sure Salo get's the start.

Yup, I have to say I'm optimistic for a win tonight too. 3-2 Oilers, and we barely stifle the yawning (a big to whomever came up with the trap, and to all the coaches who employ it) until a late flurry of goals in the third. Brewer, Torres, Hemsky with the goals.

I like the fact that Minny got SLAMMED last night in Calgary and got lucky to come out with a tie after that rumble. The Oilers need to capitalize on that. Here is to hoping the players read the Journal this morning and shape up in time for the game.

Didn't you read that James Duthie article? The guy who designed the trap intended it to be an offensive system. Others changed it to make it a defensive system.

Well, since I just got free tix to the game I thought I better make a few predictions

First, the game will be more entertaining than the last Oil-Wild game I went to (how could it be worse? )

Next, it will be 3-1 Oil (York, Brewer, BG and of course Gaborik)

1-0 Wild after one, 2-1 Oil after two, 3-1 final with no empty netter.

Laraque will beat on some poor sap just to show everyone that he really is a tough guy and he draws in some extra minutes in the third from Mac-T as a reward. Then he will finally comes off the boards like the freight train we all know he can be and stuffs it in.

I'm thinking Tommy gets his first shutout of they year and the Oilers win 3-0.. i'll go with the growing sentiment and say that Oates scores along with Izzy and Horcoff. I just hope Salo gets the start again, he has looked really good of late IMO!

oilers lose 2-0 and after the game laraque laments the fact he still has not scored.

1-0 Minnesota.

Minnesota scores a power play goal after Laraque gets a penalty for trying to beat someone up.

The boards light up with everyone yelling at Laraque for taking a stupid penalty.

Don't laugh, it happened earlier this year in the 4-2 loss against Calgary.

5-1 Oilers. York and Dvorak get all the goals and assists - they are the only players that look interested lately anyways.

I disagree.. Isbister has looked very "interested" of late. As has Brewer, Salo, Smith and to a lesser degree Oates..

Thats true. But Brewer is still light years away from where he should be.

Agreed.. he has stepped up his play a lot of late though and is starting to get his intensity back. He has been doing a great job the last 5 games of jumping into the play and driving the puck down low.. granted he isn't Blake or Pronger yet but he's renewed my confidence in his capability to become a solid #1/2 defenceman

Slump Ends!?!

Getting a pass from Isbister, Semenov booms a slapshot off Laraques' head into Minny's net. Big Georges finally gets his first goal. In a daze, BGs looses it, goes Wild punching Isbister, who in turn, wakes up, completely and scores a goal himself. Later bad boy Brad throws an elbow, gets into a fight, and completes the Gordie Howe Hattrick. Salo sits on a horseshoe in the dressing room and can't be beat. The Oilers' win 2 to 0.

Ya, I just wanted to say that Izzy has been looking much much better... let's hope he can find some luck and actually stay healthy! Third time is the charm!
I say 3-1
Brewer, Izzy, Smith (two assists for Hemsky)

Park for the Wild.

5-0 oilers. Salo gets the shut-out, york scores all 5 goals and Sakich escapes 18th place in his hockey draft.
