Proposal EDM / NYR

Essentially, its obvious the Oilers struck out in the FA market this year, but we have a TON of cap space.

Petr Prucha would fit the mold of young high potential forwards we are looking at aquiring. Being a countryman of Hemsky's it may be worth our while to taking a chance with him.

What would you want back from Edmonton for him.

Keep in mind one of the things we can do to sweeten a deal is take on a fairly large contractor off your hands you no longer want.

How about we start with Prucha, Kasperitis for Pitakenen (sp) and a first round pick? (2009)

trading kasparaitis is pointless in that his salary wont count against the cap

Is this a joke?

I wouldn't trade pitkanen for anyone other than Jagr on the rangers.

Throwing in a salary dump and a first?

I for one do not see the interest that SOME Ranger fans have in jettisoning off Prucha. He is a 25-30 goal scorer, plays hard, does not shy away from contact and has expressed his desire to play for the Rangers even if it means it may mean taking less money. Granted he may never be a superstar but he is a good young player with a great attitude and those would are always welcome on a team I root for.

I think trading Smid would be a step sideways.

we have a really good core of young D-men now, but I dont think Lowe would move Smid/Pitkanen/Greene/Stoll/Hemsky.

We have a ton of desirable prospects.

I honestly will not pretend to know what you guys need.

I doubt you guys have anything we want. We're mostly looking for guys who can help us win now. You're mostly stocked with young players most of whom you want to keep.

It seems like the original proposal was based around the idea that we're up against the cap, but from what i've been reading from various sources we have around $12-13 Million to re-sign our guys and that seems more than enough considering we have 4 RFA (Henrik, Avery, Hossa, and Prucha) and 1 UFA (Shanahan) who seems genuine about staying. That's 5, 2, 1, 1, and 4 Million respectively. That's exactly 13 Million. Keep in mind in some cases I rounded up. Prucha was looking for less than 1 mill.

The Islanders might take him - right now they're well below the salary cap minimum and struggling to bring players in..

A potentially useful player on a big salary with 1 year remaining could be a decent fit for them..

Prucha would come only with Cullen. You need 3C. Make an offer.

Hemsky isnt going to be moved.

I was hoping for Prucha to play with Hemsky.

Was hoping that since you guys had alot of depth down C now, you would be willing to trade Prucha for prospect depth, obviously this isnt the case.

If that's the case, Prucha for Robbie Schremp and the Oilers 2009 1st rounder

If Schremp results in a bust, we have another shot at a decent player with the 1st in 09.

We take all the risk while giving up a proven 30 goal scoring winger.
