Unlike Sydor and Cullimore I actually wanted Lukowich back. Glad to have him back and glad his signing means Pratt and Janik won't be back.

A decent signing if you ask me... we need veterans in the back end to help develop our younger talent and to me Lukowich isnt a bad deal.

i thought mine was pretty obvious that we had signed a defenseman when i put "and the gamebreaking dman is....." .... i also had more information then you have posted... i posted the financial terms... but i guess ill do it again for everyones sake:

3 years 4.7M which is 1.56M per year.

but ok

Per the Trib...

I think fax machines hate the Lightning.

Am I the only one that finds humor in this?

I am a little bit confused as to why we locked him up for 3 years??? That doesnt make much sense.

I'm guessing Lukowich wanted a long term commitment.. I dunno.

I agree, while he is only 30 (which is younger than I remembered him to be) I would be wary of locking up lower paring defensemen for longer than one or two years, sooner or later Egener, Rogers, Smaby, Mihalik, etc will have to jump to the big club. That being said there seems to be a market for players like Lukowich every trade deadline so I can't complain.

none...if we are going to sign ranger and craig... we MIGHT have 1M left...so feaster is pretty much done unless he is making trades.

Lukowich carved out a nice niche in New Jersey as a solid, reliable 4/5 defense man who can play 3/4 minutes for an extended time if need be. He's solid yet unspectacular. A good signing by the Bolts. It's a shame to see him go, but Lou has a plan for the future and Brad isn't a part of it.

Best of luck to Brad in Tampa.

honestly...for the same reason i have no love for the ouellet signing....

this is NOT what we need....

we needed a top 4 dman and a SCORING winger...

we got a MAYBE will score 20 goals winger (which by all accounts is a slower version of perrin in missing good scoring chances) and now with lukowich coming back we have a number 5 dman MAYBE a 4 but its just not what this team needed IMO.

however...i hope im proved 10000000% wrong come the season and ouellet and richards tear it up like vinny and marty and luko becomes a staple on defense. but as of right now... im COMPLETELY dissapointed in the offseason thus far.

I am really convinced Lukowich is a top 4 defenseman. He adjusted very well to the Devils system and became extremely reliable for us. You won't be disappointed.

Fair enough.

I'm with you 100% on our needing to acquire a proven winger. Hope I'm proven wrong there as well.

theres HUGE difference in what is required of dmen in the NJ system and in the TB system....

i know what luko can do/cant do...remember he was part of the SC winning team. but that was 3 years ago and frankly before the rule changes.

i just think feaster doesnt know what to do and he is bringing back old players to try to recapture the past...and its just not gonna happen... im tired of seeing old players come back.

That system left with Ramsey.

In the past two days, we have lost a top 4 and have the potential to lose a #5/6 d-man. Somebody has to fill those roles and as far as I can tell, there is no one in the minors ready to step into top 4 minutes. We needed to make a move of some sort.

I am at least willing to see how this plays out before I jump down Feasters throat. None of us even know what our new system under a new assistant coach will look like. I think its a little hasty to be getting pissed off about this.

the system i speak of is the overall system of offense and pinching and a LOT of skating for dmen.... luko just doesnt fit that bill....

why not preissing? he went to somewhere sunny and for a great price....i dont see why we couldnt have gotten him..he would have been 10000000x better then luko....

and as for it only be july...judging by feasters previous offseasons.... and the fact that he has no money left to spend.... i would say your NEW tampa bay lightning are:

prospal-lecavalier-st louis
hlavac-richards-ouellet
craig-gratton-ward
tarnasky-taylor/jones-roy

karlsson

boyle-ranger(assuming he will get signed)
kuba-lukowich
obrien-smaby(more then likely)

holmqvist
denis
ramo

yeah nice offseason ...tell which of the 29 other nhl teams is worrying about our secondary scoring now?
