Holik is majorly overpaid, but I'd take Holik at $4.25M over Jovanovski at $7M. At least Holik can stay healthy.

terrible contract...
ive always been a huge Jovo guy and always wanted to see his #55 on the Bruins but when i saw his contract last year coming off all the injurys i was like F that Phoenix can have him

I would almost say how about Murray(4.1)-A.Ward(2.75$) and Tim Thomas(1.1) for Jovo and a prospect/pick but that 6.5$ is too much to swallow

How close are the Coyotes to the cap floor. I would think they would need to take at least some salary back.

Some team near the salary floor should gamble on him. He's not specifically too bright, but he does have some qualities that a lot of teams could use.

old Jovanovski (pre 2002) is worth 6.5 easy in today's market.

New Jovo is barely worth 3.5. He is the case of going off reputation.. his play has absolutely stunk the past few seasons, save for a few solid stretches.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. It's just not the worst contract in hockey right now.

There is no way in hell that Jovo waives his no trade clause. Why even bother reporting this? He's settled n this city, has family here, and picked Phoenix out of all the potential destination next year. The only teams with the cap room to take him are not going to contend next year, so it would be moving from one loser to another, something he definitely won't want to do.

Wow... so they're already well below the cap floor. How are they going to trade Jovo if they already need to fill $6 million salary with whatever UFA junk that is left over and Ballard?

the Coyotes need a goaltender who is young and will help be a foundation for the organization for years to come.....i dont think Montoya because the Rangers dont have the room, the islanders would have to give up something pretty big for him. The Coyotes wont let him go easily- i think Maloney is doing a great job by starting fresh. he has a great core with Mueller, Hanzal and Turris in the future along with some other great prospects. i think they are pretty set in goal with the drafting of Joel Gistedt- he might be the 2nd biggest steal of the draft behind Cherepanov.

Bravo Donny

haha...except if Burke got some others of the Canucks in their prime when Burke was GM here...along with his kick ass 2nd line, he'd have another Cup!

dont blame Jovo. Like alot of JOvo fans said. "That a boy jovo! go for the money! hes not the one getting ripped off, Phoenix is." who the hell would say no to money they dont deserve?

Its Wayne Gretzky's fault.

Barnett was the GM at the time of the signing.

of course he was, and Wayne Grezky ok'ed it. Hes like a gm too.

as quoted by Wayne himself

"we were after Ed"

cmon man, jsut because he does not have a GM title, doesent mean he does not send commands to his gm to go after players. AS I know, it was Wayne who phoned Ed.

Jovo just plopped down $4 million on home in Scottsdale

Quote:
$3,995,394

Edvard Jovanovski and his wife, Kirstin L. Kresse-Jovanovski, bought this new home at DC Ranch in Scottsdale the Silverleaf Club. Jovanovski, a defenseman for the Phoenix Coyotes, was selected by the Florida Panthers with the first overall pick in the 1994 National Hockey League entry draft. The home was sold by Scott Pfeiffer of Scottsdale

None of those contracts are as bad as Jovanovski's. They are all better players than Jovanovski and none of them have struggled nearly as much with injuries as Jovanovski.

Did you just say that Khabibulin, Hamrlik, and Kubina are better than Jovo?

You can make a point without exaggerating, yes? Reasonable assertions are credible even if disagreed with. Obvious hyperbole makes you sound stupid and weakens the rest of your point.
