Eddie 'crazy legs' Jovanovski - boy, have I had arguments about him with a buddy of mine.
He loves him, says he's worth all this money ('hey, he made it to Team Canada so he must be good'), and the Canucks were dumb for letting him go - and when the Canucks were only .500 leading up to mid-December last season, he said it was because they didn't have Jovo.

I admit, he can make some exciting rushes once in a while, but he's not very good defensively - you can actually see the confused look on his face sometimes when the puck is getting passed around him.

Have fun losing with your millions of $$$ Jovo.

Sure did. Jovanovski is terrible defensively and isn't the same nasty player as he used to be. All three of those players are better than Jovanovski. Hamrlik has greatly improved over the years and Kubina is nothing special, but he's a very dependable defenseman that can log big minutes. Khabibulin is just on a crappy team at the moment.

Can you make your point without sounding like a pompous idiot?

I'd rather have 2 years of Khabby at $6.75 million than 4 years of Jovo at $6.5 million. Ask most hawk fans and they'll tell you that Khabby was at least the 2nd best player on the Hawks last year. The defence he has played behind is very shaky. It contains young guys still adapting to the NHL and over the hill veterans.

I'll say San Jose, assuming they don't get Souray.

From Eklund.....

Derek Morris and Ed Jovonavski are rumoured to be on the block. The Islanders attempted to get Jovo yesterday and TSN is reporting that Jovo refused to wave his NTC. I would still look to Jovo to get moved and one source tells me that Florida is quite possible. Jovo likes to play in warm weather I suppose. Derek Morris could end up an Islander or could end up in Buffalo or Montreal.
Apparently, he refused to waive it. Jerk! I don't see FL wanting him back though, that's a BIG contract to add when they have to re-sign J.BO and Weiss plus the addition of Vokoun's cap hit.

How many people are able to actually buy a house for less than their actual income? Many hockey players keep houses in the Valley after they are traded (many never even played here). Besides, I'm sure the 4 million dollars house could be sold again. I don't think there are any rules against that, and it shouldn't be too difficult with the way the Valley is growing so fast.

Where did TSN report that? Yesterday they said he was luke-warm. I haven't seen anything that said he outright refused.

Maybe it was on a sportscentre this morning or something? I doubt even the questionable "Ek" would state a big source like TSN and not have it be true.

Yes, but he could be stupid and have interpreted yesterday's report as Jovo refusing the trade.

My bet is Jovo goes nowhere. I can't see anyone wanting his contract, but it doesn't bother me in all honesty. We'll be awful with or without him and he should have a decent impact with our young d corps.

Yes, he did say he waived it. Also, he said NYR and not NYI.

Gotta agree with you on this one. Gretzky accompanied Barnett and Fletcher to Jovo's agent's office to be there at 12:01. I think Gretz was all over this one. But many felt, myself included, that Yotes had one of the best, if not the best, D on paper at the start of last season. It just didn't pan out.

Fix their situation, what is their situation? It's not like they are close to the cap, they're not after any serious free agents and they likely won't be for a couple more years at least. Yes if they right deal comes along I imagine they'd prefer to part with Jovo and give more playing time to youngsters but Phoenix is hardly with their back against the wall here. It's not like Jovo's contract is handcuffing them.
