This has been speculated in the sportsnet story. If it goes official, I will change the title and stick it. All Drury talk here, please

If true, it makes us a serious cup contender. It also puts us in cap hell, right?
And I'm not saying it's wrong, but that article just looks suspect to me.

I don't want both of them, I hope this is bogus and we get Nylander back...

Well we have no money left I guess. So this team as presently constituted needs to be enough for the Cup. So I guess Shannahan re-signs and that's it.
Great job Sather.

Don't you love how TSN doesn't even mention Gomez or Drury or the Rangers on the NHL home page?

Agreed. Though, this is a major coup for the Rangers. Two of the three top center free agents? Holy toledo. I'm really, really, stoked. Never in my life did I imagine we'd have an off season like this. Cherepanov slipping to us at 17 and then this? Drury AND Gomez? WOW. Kudos to Glen and management. I'm really liking these moves.

Gomer and Drury
Of course. Makes us a better team, where does it leave us cap wise?? Sounds like time to dump higher salaried dmen like Malik and Mara.

I really hope that this doesn't come back to bite us in the ass, but you HAVE to like the way this team looks on paper right now. I worry a bit because much of the Ranger's post-lockout success has come from amazing chemistry, but I really can't imagine a scenario under which Scott Gomez won't play well with Jagr on his wing.
Drury next to Shanny gives us a legitimately scary 1a line as well. It's pretty funny how a team can go from bare down the middle to having arguably the best one/two center combination in the league in a matter of minutes...
I feel really bad for Nylander through all of this, though. The guy was great here, and if we had signed him instead of one of these guys I would have been quite happy. But business is business, and the Rangers are now poised for a run at the Cup, AND they have addressed the team's long term future.
Great day.

The New York Rangers have signed forward Chris Drury to a five-year deal worth $35.25 million.

Where does this leave Shanny? I can't believe they won't bring him back

5 year.. 35 mil, 7 mil cap hit
Don't love the contract, love the player though
I think Drury can play all 3 forward positions, which makes me feel better about signing both he and Gomez.. since C position won't be clogged up.. can anyone confirm this?

I'm not thrilled. I only wanted one or the other, and I DEFINITELY didn't want gomez for that long at that much.
I guess I'll have to say goodbye to one of my favorite players, Nylander. I loved him as a ranger, and I hope Jagr isn't too upset with his departure.
I hope we're not back to seeing the rangers of old, buying every free agent available.

No room for the defensemen that we needed. Sourey would have been better to have and Gomez with Nylander

I'm not happy with this, I didn't want Gomez on this team... Maybe I'm wrong, only time will tell... In my opinion I don't think Gomez warrants the money he is going to receive. Thorton is one thing, but Gomez is not in the same league skill wise as big Jou...

it'll be a little difficult for them to buy every free agent with the cap and their situation now
I think they just put all their chips with Drury/Gomez.. investing their future with them

That seems to be overlooked around here.
Bye bye Nylander. It's sad, but he unliked to the door and opened it.
