What can he bring to a team on a 4th line? It's pretty obvious he'll not be more than that for the Habs...I don't understand that at all...

He's a player with an amazing attitude and work ethic. He's willing to go through a wall for a team and he has a pretty decent scoring touch for a grinder. Nice signing.

Yeah TkO (as we called him here in LA) simply didn't fit into the team's plans this year, and alot of us are sad to see him go. As was stated, he's got huge heart and a hilarious sense of humor to boot.

Never have enough of those heart and soul player!

What about his defensive game? and does he drop the glove at time? Not that he's a goon, but sometimes?

Certainly not a liability defensively, and he'll definitely throw down with just about anyone if necessary.

He's a great lockeroom guy, great at defense and he stands up for himself and his teammates (drops the gloves) i'll miss him in LA. i wish him all the best in Montreal.

Hearing this stuff makes the deal make more sense. He's clearly a big upgrade over Garth Murray. Gives the team better depth. Something you can never have too much of when you're dealing with a lot of young players.

Thanks. Well I dont think he'll turn the franchise around, but we'll see at training camp. If the youngster are better, great if not he'll play and bring some grit and leadership. Win/Win situation. I like that.

Couple for quick questions for those who have seen him play quite a bit:

- How is his skating?
- Could he be used to round out a third line or is he strictly a 4th line type player?

- He's a pretty good skater from what I remember + the limited viewings i've had of him as a King.

- You probably don't want him on your 3rd line, definately more of a 4th line/reserve type of player

He was voted, by the players on the team, as the most inspirational player, and the unsung hero of the team last season. Yeah, he's not much more than a 4th line checker(who will stand up for his teammates, kill a penalty, and score the odd goal), but he's a quality guy that is one of those players that will end up scoring a big game winning goal in the 3rd overtime in game 3 of the 2nd round(damn you John LeClair).

Cheers 417, sounds like his skating fits in with the Timmins and co. idea of trying to select guys who can skate and there was a post I saw somewhere recently that suggested Ferland might not make next year it due to his skating. Sounds like it could be a replacement of sorts. I'd love to see JF make it but this guy sounds like big competition for him to beat out, brings some similar skills but can skate better and has more experience. Be interesting to see how the battle for the 4th line plays out this year, a LOT of guys in contention for what will probably be just one spot (with Lappy/Begin getting the nod).

I've always hoped the Pens would bring back Nonstopolous.

Good signing for sure

I've gotten to watch him a lot the last few seasons.

His skating is decent, not the quickest but not bad either.
He can play 3rd line and PK. He is not some chump that doesn't deserve a roster spot. he'll surprise many of you who haven't seen him much.

Ask Steve Ott. He re-arranged his face and destroyed his ankle when he buckled. Ott also got some in serious bombs and it instantly showed. TK can take some punches.
From these highlights it doesn't do justice. But TK will be the first guy to stick up for a teammate. He doesn't always come out on top but he's tough as nails.

He's also got great ability in stealing the puck. This was a very good signing for you guys especially in your bottom six.

I saw the same post, it had a summary of a number of guys & their chances as per Timmins. I thought Ferland would make it but I guess the team is looking to make that spot a real battle.

It also seems to fly in the face of putting an "offensive" style rookie in there for seasoning...... however a voice in my head is whispering that maybe we're seeing the beginning of the end for Steve Begin. We all know he loves the team but Kostopoulos seems like a play in the exact model so there's still a chance there may be an open spot for a kid on #4 after all. Begin is still a sparkplug but the hurts seems to have taken a toll lately on the body, leaving him with mainly his big heart.
