It's probably best, he has nothing left.

I just wish we could have won him a cup. I don't think I'd be able to reture without winning one, regardless of my abilities.

He probably didn't receive any offers.

This makes me really sad. I loved watching JR play.

Will he take the league minimum to be our 4th center???? Let him get his 5 goals and retire as a Flyer.

Get this DONE. I'd love to have JR back if he played 5 games a night and was interviewed on every single broadcast.

Sad to see him go.
He was awesome as a flyer.
My favorite JR moment (and probably many folks) was his OT series clinching goal against the leafs (often overshadowed by kapanen)

One of my favorite goals ever! Almost got killed at the bar after it, but it was worth it!

Only overshadowed by Leafs fans because they don't want to remember that we finished them off a minute later.

I remember him saying at the regular season end this past season that he wanted to come back, both for his son and for the 500 milestone. I guess he didn't get any offers from teams, which doesn't surprise me. The NHL doesn't hand out retirement contracts anymore, guys like him, Mogilny, Leclair etc are being fazed out quickly. I'm surprised Lindros still gets signed every year, I suppose just because he's a bit younger than the rest of the bunch.

It's a shame too because Roenick's not all that many behind Modano for the all-time American scoring leader. Best luck to him, though.

Best Roenick moment along with the series clincher vs. Toronto was his very first game as a Flyer and he threw his stick into the crowd and some guy wrestled it away from like an 80 year old lady but got booed and gave her the stick...and JR applauded the guy's effort in a post game interview

He has to re-surface some day as a commentator, just no way he can't

I was at a game soon after his jaw injury/concussion where he was in a suit standing in the crowd, when the Flyers scored the 4th goal of the game, he led the entire arena in the chicken dance

JR will certainly be missed, probably one the best Americans to play in the NHL, played hard every night, and certainly the most colorful character in the league.

hated the loser, quit watching the flyers while he was here cuz
I couldn't stand him, he was tolerable when he was on other teams
but I could never actually cheer for him. As for announcing...
he's in the same league as Tie Domi..unwatchable

Can we give him Steve Coates's job?

ive met alot of hockey players but JR is definitely the BEST guy to ever talk to. he loves the fans and, in my case, almost missed the plane from NY so he could sign all the stuff i had him sign. Hes a great player and i dont think he is retiring- he still has fire and can play a very sound physical game- someone will and should give him a chance. the article the guy wrote in the Inquirer is under question now

he's not the player he used to be, but i'd love him on my team. how can anyone hate him? no one in need of an offensive force will sign him but if anyone needs a character guy who fans will fall in love with, i can't think of a better candidate.
