That's Glen Sather, ladies and gents. He likes to run around during netgotiation. He never does any 1-2-3 deal. He always makes a 2-day bargain session into 2 weeks. Even the agent admits that on the newspaper. He said that that was a typical Glen.

10 years 55 million seems like a bargain to me....he gets slightly overpaid for the next season or two...but is locked up long term at a fair amount.

If Leafs sign the goalie for $4m per season. The King would worth $5.25 million. I am sure the agent is looking for $6 million. Make it $5.5 million per for 5 years.

I would consider him in the ranks of Dipi, Nabakov, Turco as a great goalie, better then most, but i dont think he has quiet earned the "elite" tag just yet. He has been known to be a tad streaky, and i think that is what seperates the "elite" from the above average.

I also think that the rangers, as with the islanders, over inflate their goalies "teir" because we both have struggeled to get a good consistant goalie since Richter, and for the isles since ... um ... Healy, or Smith?
He's better than Giggy, Vokoun, Hasek, and Miller. You can make an arguement that he's better than Kipper.

not for nothing but this has got to be the dumbest post in the world...how can you post this the same week Gomez and Drury were signed hours after they became UFAs...HOURS!!!

Lundqvist market value is high...the rangers are trying to sign him to a long term contract which doesn't take a day or two to do...

just think we are 4 days into free agency and the rangers have signed...

gomez, drury, prucha, and possibly shanny...two of the players were signed in 6 hours...the other two were signed in 4 days...

the rangers need to sign 3 more players....3.....and with hossa and avery filing for arbitration it's really 1 player that needs to sign a contract in lundqvist...

what agent admited that in the newspaper? Lundqvist agent?

yeah well, someone has to keep you on your toes. If not, you might start calling Jagr Kovalev or something, and then it's just a short trip to calling Renney Trottier

Personally of all the names listed, the only one I'd have a hard time not putting ahead of him would be Brodeur and Luongo. I'd take him over all the other guys mentioned.

The real difference for me is the team Lundqvist plays on which honestly has not been the best defensive team the last two years. You put a better defense in front of him and he's winning 45 games and netting 10 shutouts.

You didn't capitalize that "I" and your ellipse is missing a period.

You need to capitalize your "H" and "its" should be "it's".

Now should be not.

You should have a comma after "you".

Now try again.

Sorry couldn't resist buddy.

For those that worry about getting players under long term contracts and then they are unable to perform for some reason down the road.

Sign Lundy to the 7 yr 5/6 mil contract and front load the thing to avoid cap issues later on. The cap hit becomes 2/3 of the remainder amount averaged ofer the remainder of the contract.

Can you cite this in the current CBA? I've always understood that the cap hit is the average amount over the life of the contract.

You mean like you should have a comma after "sorry" (and arguably before "buddy")?

I will give an example for now. The new CBA is good bathroom reading material.

Lundy gets signed 7yr for 6 mil.

Front load the contract:
yr 1-3 10 mil = 30
the final 4 at 3 mil= 12

Let's say for argurment sake Lundy just doesn't have it anymore after year 3 and year 4 we would like to buy him out.

12 mil remain so 2/3 of that would be 8 mil divided over the remaining 3 years for a cap hit of 2.6mil.

But in the event Lundy place like a king for the length of his contract then the cap hit is 6 mil.

Yeah, I could probably put one after sorry.

Don't think I'd put one before buddy, makes the sentence a little too choppy.

God knows if I wrote at my job like I do on here, I'd be fired.
