Great news for Rangers fans. He's good for 3+ per game guaranteed. So who are we going to have backing up the King? Vally, Al, or someone else?

Why would he sign there with all the games Brodeur plays?

Unless NJ is going to play Marty less games this season. He is an improvement over Clemmenson, so if that makes the Devils feel more comfortable letting Marty rest for a few more games, then I guess that's good for them & good for Kevin.

Too bad the only time we'll get to face him is in the pre-season.
Good teammate. Below average goaltender. Ps... Funny as I'm typing this I'm watching Weekes get lit up by the Debs on FSNY..

He got used to riding the pine and collecting a paycheck, perhaps?

Yeah, I was thinking just the opposite. I thought the fact that he practically sat for the entire second half last season while the Rangers rode Henrik would make him want to go to a team where he had the chance to play about 20-25 games as a backup, not 5. I'll never forget a game against the Islanders in 2006 at Nassau where Weekes had to sit on a chair by the Zamboni entrance because the bench wasn't long enough for him. He looked so pathetic and alone.

It'll be great when Marty gets the flu and Kevin has to play against a team other then the Panthers and he gives 5 to 6 goals and 4 of them were stoppable by Dan Cloutier standards.

How long does his contract last? How much salary would this be opening up for signing shanahan, henrik, avery and hossa?

He was also injured the last half of the season.

Definitely a questionable decision by Weekes here. This guy has stated multiple times that he believes he is, and wants to be, a starting NHL goaltender. Why not go to a team in search of a starter, or atleast a team with a questionable starter where he might have a chance at playing more than half of the games.

The fact that Brodeur plays 72+ games every year makes me think that either Weekes' confidence is shot or he is now just looking for a paycheck.

Or maybe the Devils are looking into trading Brodeur...

Not sure what his options were. He might maintain that he's a number 1 goalie. But that doesn't mean anything is no NHL GM feels you are.

A groin. A hip. A hammy. Pick one. In other words, I don't remember.

We will be lucky to see any games against Weekes. We'd need to see Marty get ran over by a car, and even then he'd crawl to his place to play NYR.

Good luck KW, good backup, good teammate. I won't forget that he helped in making Henke's first two seasons as good as they were

Yep, all that sounds about right. No need to kill the guy. He was what he was. And by and large his time with the Rangers was a positive.

Kevin tried hard and really wasn't healthy here in NY. Wish him all the best in his 5 games next year.

A lot of dough for a backup I wonder if they gave up on signing Sourey.

by the way.. does anyone else think that marty told lou that he is starting to feel his age during the season and is looking to play less games and that the devils would need a real backup not just a placeholder?
