Now The Smith Is Out Who Is In?

So if Smith is out who is gonna come up? Are they going to bring back Bergeron or do u think that MacT is still pretty heated at his play that he will just leave him down there for awhile and bring up some new guys to mix it up even more?

They're going to have to recall someone since Cross is also injured. He has back spasms due to an injured hip. The Oilers won't be going with 5 defensemen

I think it would definitely be MAB.
Hopefully he will pull a CuJo and play extremely well after an immediate callup.

There's a break before the next Minnesota game. Is it confirmed yet that jason won't be playing? I just thought he had precautionary x-rays... and they would re-evaluate him after the game.

Who knows? Jason might be healthy enough by the next Minny game.

In between periods last night Pendergast talked about the possibilities ranging from Ulanov to MAB to Woywitka to Lynch. He said they would talk to Ward (If it was necessary and Smith is out.) and decide what 'type' of player they would bring up.

after MAB's poor play against the Bulldogs, I doubt he'll get the call.

my money is on Lynch or Woywitka or both.

From today's Journal:

Smith was to be reassessed again today but will not be in the lineup for Friday's game in Minnesota, and he may not even travel with the team as it heads out for a six-game, 11-day road trip
Looks like he'll be out at least a game, so someone will have to be called up in case Cross can't go.

the end is near. Anytime we are hoping that cross gets back into the line-up, we are in trouble. I like the guy but he is a solid 5-7 guy, not a guy whom we "need" in order to compete.

Well i thought MAB played well considering the fact that he must have been pretty upset...he had lots of ice time and seemed to play very well. I heard Jason is going to be out for 2 weeks...i just hope that they do get the right player we need up here...and not just look for a certain size and everything like that...cause size isn't everything boys

Allen will get the call before either Lynch or Woywitka... he has been very solid and would probably be a better filler for a guy like Smith.

I read elsewhere that Allen is out with a sore jaw, may be broken.

That's what I thought too, I'd heard from somewhere he recently broke his jaw, can't find a source though.

Last night on the Road Runners game they said that Allen was out with a broke jaw and thats why the "C" was given away....so he won't be coming up at all

yea it sounds about right that they would brin gup those two...cause by the sounds of it they really aren't impressed with mab and thats very sad to say i thought he was playing better then some (fergy) but its not like they would send him down right? I just think its time to make some trades....but i really do think the oilers played alot better when smith was out...so who knows what this road trip will bring...maybe a win streak?

If we don't want to put pressure on a yound D then what about Dan Smith. He has played in the NHL before, Colorado I believe, and I thought he looked good in training camp.

My money would be on one of Ulanov or Bergeron. I'd really like to see Igor up here! I loved the guy when he was hear, he was the greatest warrior! He took more stuff, and was more suicidal blocking shots then anybody! He was a BIG reason we made the playoffs that year. I think he just needs another chance, because it's not like he's an oldtimer and can't get his game back.
