"Skill" player scrums?

???

What happened to the goon board? Or am I not perceptive enough?

Anyways, I'd like to ask what fights have occurred involving "skill players." Kinda like that Kovalchuk vs. Comrie square-off last season (even though it was supposedly weak).

Please list and state results if possible.

Also, has P.Bure ever fought? For some reason, I think he got in a scrum with Mogilny before. I'm probably way off though.

The goon board is gone, and is never coming back.

I dunno, are you talking about two "pure skill" players (eg a Naslund, Kovalchuk, Sakic type of guy) or two guys who are skilled but also tough? (eg Thornton, Iginla, etc)

Can't think of any in the former case, but in the latter you have:

Iginla vs Guerin: Iginla beats the crap out of Guerin.

Jovanovski vs Primeau: Primeau one-punch TKO's Jovanovski.

Both fights were last year I think.

Dunno about that, but he did take down Shane Churla with a really nasty elbow after Churla gave him a shot in the 94 playoffs. Dunno if that counts though.

Lemieux jumped Brad Ference last year, that was great

Believe it was Mario's third fight(one in the late 80s and in the mid-90s against a Capital).

Hahaha, I remember that. There's a picture floating around and Pavel's face was priceless.

He may have weighed next to nothing, but with the velocity Pavel can get, that's gonna hurt.

A few years ago, Tony Hrkac landed a right to Pierre Turgeon's face and knocked him down right away.

Don't know if Hrkac qualifies as a "skilled" player. :p

That was funny. Turgeon actually got a concussion from it. Never fight with your mouth open. The shock goes straight to your brain.

I used to have a video of a Penguins scrum from a few years back. Markus Naslund was on the ice at the time, but he just skated around timidly and pushed a few guys. I'll see if I can find it.

Especially since turge picked that fight by punching Hrkac a few times with the glove on before Hrkac sais screw this and dropped Pierre.

Not sure if these have ever dropped the gloves, but here are a few I would like to see in a fight..

1. Forsberg- But he would flop before the fight got started.
2. Bure- either one
3. Kariya- If him and Forsberg fought.... My god, flop-a-rama..
4. St. Louis- Could you find him.. St. Louis vs McKenna..LOL
5. Hull- Just don't hit him in the mouth
6. Naslund
7. Modano
8. Amonte
9. Briere
10. Lehtinen

Just a few, yall add more

Marty Murray fought Afinogenov last year, it wasnt just a hugfest either, both players really wanted a part of each other.

Desjardins fought Thornton, not a good idea but respect to him for trying.

Sami Kapanen fought Sergei Samsonov two years ago(?). I never saw it, but I've heard about it.

Mats Sundin and Ray Bourque almost went at it several years ago. They were about to go then the rest of the players jumped in before anything happened. I think thats for the best. I don't know how well Bourque would have done. He's been in fights before, but it was one of his last years in Boston and Sundin had the age and size factor with him. It would have likely turned out to be a hugging contest, but I always wonder how that would have turned out.

Brett Hull fought Dave Gagner way back in the day... I'm pretty sure when Gagner was with the North Stars.

Can't recall who they were with, but I'm pretty sure Amonte has been in a couple of minor fights over the last 2 or 3 years. Seem to recall shomeone shoving his helmet over his eyes and a scrum ensuing (complete with jersey jabs being handed out). Not sure if he's been in an all-out, swing-till-someone-drops type of fight.

Amonte fought Melichar in 2002.

You can see a great list of fights at http://hockeyfights.com/playerlist.asp

Actually Sergei Samsonov vs Sami Kapanen was a very entertaining fight! Both fared very well , I don't remember how it ended but I think Samsonov won by a little margin.

Don't think St. Louis will ever really drop the gloves, he gets man-handled every night, it's not much different.

I think he's quick (see: small) enough to hold his own for a little while. Imagine him and Zdeno Chara for a moment .

Besides, who wants to be the one to be remembered for beating up the little guy?

-Watching Lecavalier fight has always been kind of amusing, though.

Not going to happen (Kovy & Datsyuk are buddies) - but it would be a funny thing to see.

PS. By the way, weren't you the one who said Datsyuk needed to get tougher and develop a little edge? :p)

Brian Gionta and Todd Marchant had a great fight last year. Both of them were throwing good shots. Gionta handled himself really well for a smurf.

Kapanen also fought Bondra this preaseason.

Mark Recchi is a very underrated fighter. It's always good to have a guy on your team to take on other shielded players. He ruined Sean Hill 2 years ago.
