I like both of the Peterson and Winchester signings.
I don't know anything about Trevor Byrne other then his stats.

It seems that winchester is on aone way which is dumb because Barch is as well. With Sertich and Lindgren there, can Peterson play wing or are valuable minutes taken from 2 prospects. Byrne is depth-must raises questions as to whether the end is near for Nickerson

Winchester could be taking Miettinen's spot.
Peterson's very important for Iowa, remember back for Iowa's first season he was a big part of the Eriksson-Peterson-Lessard line.

Peterson's going to help out the younger players get more scoring chances for Iowa, assuming that's what officially happens with Peterson.

The Winchester signing(a LW) signals to me that Ott is probably still on his way out.

Miets or Ott must be gone but Miets even given his poor hands is +++++ Winchester. I think Ott is an AHLer so if he is gone then good. Winchester too me is a very slight improvement on Barch and you do not need both on one ways

So what can Smith and Miets/Ott bring? Murray? Hunter?

Barch stays...Barch and Winchester on the 4th line will be a dousy to play against. Leave Ott on there at C(doubt it) and its a damn fiesty line.

Why would the Stars want Murray anyway? He's slow paid over $4 million for for the next two years and even if the Stars did add him they won't be winning the Stanley Cup anyway it does nothing. It's not like Murray's in his mid 20s.

Yeah screw Murray. I sure as hell don't want him. If we're gonna be mediocre, we might as well give youth a chance and some ice time.

That will get lost in coverage, can't skate and score 10 goals all year

remember, Jokinin Hagman and Miets were good at times and still posed a threat and with the Barnes-LUndqvist- Halpern line set, there is no room, as of now there are 14 forwards anyway.

I threw Murray out there because he is good and available and whether you like it or not, the team could care less what happens 2 years from now when Modano and Zubov retire

Yeah but with Ott likely gone, that will leave us with 13. Mittens or Barch the healthy scratch.

He's not as tough as Barch and sadly Barch was even producing more offensively than Ott last year. I wouldn't mind losing Miettinen either if someone outplays him in training camp. Also Ott may have some(but not too much) trade value in that teams very well could overpay for him thinking that he is a young Darcy Tucker-type player.

Not sure anyone is stupid enough to think Ott is Tucker-lite but as long as he is gone that is good

Lets just hope that there are some GMs as intellectually challenged as our own.

This is a pretty lame signing, but I guess I'd rather have a young player that sucks making the minimum than an old reclamation project player that sucks making 1M+

the Petersen-signing was pretty clear for me. He was well liked by everyone in his 05-06 season for Iowa and he should also improve Iowa's PK (which is important since Lundqvist should be on the big club full-time)

i expect Sertich to play wing and Gagnon and Lindgren be the top2 center. Peterson should be a good guy for the 3rd and PK.

Byrne should play #5-#7 dman in Iowa, Nickerson is a borderline AHL/ECHL forward...where's the connection between those two ?

Well at least we finally did something. I actually like the Winchester and Petersen additions. As others have said Petersen should be great for Iowa and I think Winchester could be an upgrade over Miettinen or Ott (one of the two is obviously gone).

Winchester still has the potential to be a top-9 power foward type of player at the pro level. In 05-06 he scored 26 goals and 40 points in 40 games with Hamilton of the AHL.

Yeah, why bother trying to improve any part of the lineup. Might as well give up.

Now there is a need to address more important needs, it seems that DA is waiting for the Ufa market to calm down and then go through the trade route which is reasonable
