Here's what I'm thinking for a playoff lineup (this is NHL 07 time...not being serious):

Gagne Briere Lupul
Hartnell Forsberg Selanne
Upshall Richards Knuble
Eager Carter Kapanen

Get 'er done!
Lupul on the first line instead of Selanne?

LOL. The worst thing about Eklund getting some of these things right is that I stop and consider his ******** a little longer than I used to.

Maybe they are offering him a 10 year 10 million dollar contract (1 mil per year) knowing he will retire after 1 year - the Flyers have money, they can pay him and all his money earned in retirement won't count against the cap right? (or is that not how it works or is that only if he signed the contract before he was a certain age?)

Yeah, that was my EA Sports creation - Forsberg and Selanne could be sick. Lupul has to go somewhere.

If Selanne and Forsberg are on this team come December, I think Im going to take the 2nd semester of college off, move back to PA, and watch only Flyers games

yeah, i'd have to fly back from ann arbor just to catch a few games. no way i let a season with all those guys go by without catching at least a couple home games.

contracts signed after age 35 count even if the player is retired....just ask Garth Snow

only way it MAY happen is because Teemu wants to play with other Fins.... Anaheim lacks european players, flyers have atleast 4 finnish players and more in the system

At last check it was under $1m available but there are movable parts if it came to that.

For some reason I think we could find a roster spot for both Teemu and Peter if they wanted to join the club. The cash, on the other hand, might be a little difficult.

This rumor doesnt make sense for anyone. We dont have much cap room and are overflowing with wingers already....and teemu just won a cup, why would he want to come here?

Both points have already been made, i just felt like they were worth repeating.

So, Philly has no cap room, many immovable contracts, no real need for yet another top six forward, yet they want to go sign Selanne for big money. Then, on top of that, Selanne, who said he'd only leave Anaheim to retire, and that's because of his family, would uproot himself to the other side of the country?

I don't care how accurate Eklund has been, and if Wildcat(Ducks insider) has heard things about it, it makes 0 sense.

I wouldn't call the contracts immovable and you can always find room for a player like Selanne, but everything else in the post sounds about right.

For this to be true at all, Selanne would have to have a GREAT relationship with one (or some) of the Fins on our roster, would have to really want to play with that player(s), and the Flyers would have to have plans in place to make it work.

I agree it doesn't make any sense, but stranger things have happened. How accurate is Wildcat?

Apparently he is considered reliable so that cancels out Eklunds lack of reliability.

Things could interesting is Foppa comes back too. They must both be taking a heavy pay cut (just checked the Ducks thread and they say its about money so I cant see how this would work) for this to happen, even then its a certainty that Gauthier is traded.

If Selanne comes here, there is zero chance of Forsberg unless he wants to play for the league minimum. The Flyers would already have to maneuver around the cap to bring in Selanne.

But I can't see Selanne leaving Anaheim. It just doesn't add up, unless he isn't a big fan of Todd Bertuzzi's contract and felt that Burke lowballed him.
