I'll just completely ignore this and keep thinking he will retire.

I know It's Eklund, but the fact that he states it from a trustworthy source scares the **** out of me

And the fact that he (Eklund) has been doing unusual good this offseason doesn't make things better...

I did a little digging and it's true. He's not really receptive to a bonus laden deal.

More later.....

I will believe it when I see it....

...However, Selanne retiring or going elsewhere might end up being a blessing in disguise IF Niedermayer made the shocking decision to come back. It would be really bad if Niedermayer wanted to come back, yet Selanne was tying up a lot of salary cap space.

This would be UNBEILIEVEABLE!... What a traitor! I'm am a Sharks fan, and knowing Selanne, there is no WAY he decides not to retire, and goes to ANOTHER team, he has WAY to much class...

I really don't see this happening...

Agree with this, the Flyers won't be able to pay him more than lets say.. $2 million.. For that prize I'm sure he'd rather stick with the Ducks. The only other team he could possible consider apart from the Ducks would be St. Louis IMO.. And that's not likely either...

I don't believe this rumour, but if by some slim chance it is true, then maybe Selanne is pissed off about the Bertuzzi signing?

I remember him being disgusted by the Moore incident.

Interesting. If it's true it's Burke's fault for signing Bertuzzi and insisting on incentives. Step back for a moment and think, who's the bigger risk and thus a better candidate for an incentive contract? Selanne or Bertuzzi?

I think if Selanne came back he would take a paycut to play with Anaheim...

That is on the condition that Neidermeyer returns as well...

if it is true, than he must really be pissed off about bert. Because he said if he does come back it would only be as a duck

If this is true, then is Burke is partly to blame for this. Bertuzzi gets $4 million, while Selanne is asked to play for less and incentives. He might feel offended or something like that.

This would be a surprise, since I remember he said it's either Anaheim or retirement.

I prefer Selanne over Bertuzzi no doubt.. McDonald should get higher payed than Bertuzzi as well...

Why would Selanne move away from CA, away from his home, and away from his family. It just don't make sense. I will reserve judgement on this rumor.

Does Selanne not being receptive to an incentive laden contract make anyone else think about his confidence in his skills?

He willingly, as far as I know, signed an incentive laden contract last year. Does he not want his performance to determine his salary? If so I think we may be able to use that 5-6 million that he would demand more wisely.

In the short time I've had this on my plate.....Just a note I hadn't heard this prior to Ek, but what I've been told is...It's about money. I guess Philly has a rabbit to pull out of the hat.

I haven't heard Bertuzzi mentioned.

As a Flyers fan, this one confuses the hell out of me. The Flyers are overloaded at the wing (I think Selanne can play some centre but there's no need there either), there's no money unless a major contract is dumped (please let it be Hatcher). Then from Selanne's point of view, why would he want to leave California to come up north to a rebuilding team (technically) at his age?

Strange rumour.
