Kiprusoff is leading the league because of the underrated defense in front of him. McLennan carried the team when Turek was out, why can't he do it again?
The Flames are fine, Calgary should only have to worry about Kiprusoff missing out on some awards at the end of the season...
the flames should be ok as long as they don't have to ride a McLennan/Sabourin tandem for 3 weeks or something
McLennan can hold the fort for a while, he did ok (not spectacular but ok) before and then Turek will be back. say what you will about Turek (and lord knows I've bashed him before) but he had a .500 record for the Flames the last 2 years, while his backups (McLennan included) were about 20 games under .500.
still missing three of four centers and your top 2 goalies is bad injury management....spread it around fellas

There is a differance though, Kiprusoff single handedly won some games for Calgary...where as Mclennan really did not. Yes the team defense is the strength of the team, but the fact is even then there has to be some more than average saves made...Mikka did that with startling regularity...McLennan has not...so far anyhow.
I don't think Kiprusoff will even be out for 6 weeks. He said in the TSN article that he'll probably be alright in 10 to 15 days. Sergei Samsonov sprained his MCL two weeks ago in Washington and he says he's close to returning.
I say Kiprusoff is back in 3 weeks, 4 at the very most.

Good point. The Flames will be ok - their defense is an important part of Kiprussoff's success in the first place.
If he were, Edmonton wouldn't be 4 games under .500 right now.
If the hockey gods are cruel to anyone, it'd be the LA Kings. Helloooo record setting man-games lost. Switched from the Canadiens of a few years ago.
Actually, the Kings ar nowhere close to that. The kings don't know what injuries are until they have to ice a team of nothing but ahlers, and put their 4th string goalie in net because their 3rd string was ineffective and the other 2 got hurt.
Sooo Conroy, Reinprecht, Betts and Morgan are out.
Kipper and Turek are out.
We only have 1 NHL center. Yelle. And Lombardi sorta counts but he's gone ice cold. Oh god, we're going to get ***** by Colorado tonight. Figures, the one game where I get to have Thundersticks, too.

mcammond has been filling in, admirably, at center. word is that kobasew will center (presumably the 4th) a line tonight
so expect
saprykin mcammond iginla
gelinas yelle donovan
green lombardi clark
oliwa kobasew lowry

take THAT Colorado
Calgary wins with heart with a healthy line up... now they really need a lot of heart tonight.

I hope you're right, but goalies need their knees to be 100% before they come back, whereas a skater can get away with 80-90%.

The problem with Noodles is that nobody really trusts him to make that key, game winning save. He will hold us in, he will keep us close, but he just cant be depended on to make the big save.
As a backup, he is great.
As you say, our defense will keep us in it. If we can play around .500 between now and when Turek or Kiprusoff come back, we will be alright.
Also, it was Turek who said he would be back in 10-15 days, not Kiprusoff.

Actually, last year the kings played a host of fringe ahlers:
eloranta,
rasmussen,
norton,
sim,
chartrand,
smithson,
schmidt,
c. johnson,
barney,
bekar,
rosa,
brennan,
zizka,
kelly,
flinn,
bednar.
The injury bug isn't as devestating with better depth this year. The point about goaltending is mute since kings goaltending has always sucked (28th save% last year and this year), so it can't get any worse.
