Canucks Re-Acquire Wade Brookbank

The 6-foot-4, 225 pound, native of Lanigan, Saskatchewan, was originally signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators on July, 27, 2001. Brookbank was claimed by the Nashville Predators in this year’s NHL Waiver Draft on October 3, 2003. Vancouver traded for the rugged defenceman in exchange for Future Considerations on December 17th. He was then claimed off waivers by Ottawa on December 19th. Ottawa then traded Brookbank to Florida on December 28th, before be re-claimed off waivers by the Canucks.

Poor Guy

So, the 'Nucks are planning on keeping him up with big club for a week or so before they put him on waivers again??

Won't another team (mainly Ottawa) just claim him again?

How many times can one player be put on waivers; is there even a limit?

We need some waiver wire experts on merry-go-round situation.

I'm pretty sure a team isn't allowed to claim a player they've allready lost on waivers that year. Something similar happened with a Calgary Colorado trade last year.

That was a trade involving Dean McAmmond. I'm sure the NHL has different rules for waiver wire pick-ups. Unless they let this one slip through their radar like the previously mentioned trade did.

Very cool, that just adds more spice to Canuck Blues games which are still awesome.

In fact, it's quite the opposite. If a team loses a player on waivers and within the next 30 days if that player is again placed on waivers, his previous team is given a chance to claim that player before anybody else.

Well, I'm going to the game tomorrow night, so I am hoping to catch a glimpse of Brookbank.
