Slats is going fishing with Brian Burke and Harry Sinden

Quote:
Before he left his Boston-area home for an annual summer fishing trip with New York Rangers general manager Glen Sather and Anaheim Ducks GM Brian Burke, Sinden responded to a report last weekend that claimed the long-time Boston Bruins executive has been contacted by either the Leafs or by a go-between.

Maybe Slats will ply Burke with enough booze that he will take Malik off his hands

Burke had Malik in Hartford and in Vancouver

As evidenced in the article where they say "...an annual fishing trip..."

I'm a big Malik fan. He's not as good as his +30 says. But he's not as bad as fans make him out to be.

LOL, I didn't even read the quote, I just remembered something about this from years past.

Have no fear, Captain Obvious is here!

I don't see Malik moving...

not a big Malik fan, but I also do not know who I'd like to see taking his minutes over the course of an 82-game season. Would love to dream about Staal or Baranka making the team, but have this strange feeling they'll be in Hartford to start the season.

Malik is also a FA at the end of the season and that is salary off the books.

I'd love to dump him and try to sign Markov to take that spot.

It's funny how things change. A couple of years ago, I prayed for this scenario. Now I'm ok with old stogie (although I don't forgive the years that he made me feel completely hopeless about the team I l have always loved).

Did Sather make the Cullen trade from the boat?

Sather is going to take advantage of Burke's propensity to take on other teams' goons for second-round draft picks.

Anaheim second-rounder to NYR for Mitch Fritz or Francis Lessard. You heard it here first.

Now Burke will pull off a bigger trade to outdo Sather. It's a contest! Gotta do something while waiting for a hit.

Something just doesn't seem fair about this trade. I can't quite put my finger on it...

The Ducks are having their own issues with D-men and cap trouble, I'd highly doubt they'd want to take on another high priced D-man, especially if Nieds decides to stick around for another year.

Sather was no stranger to the rough stuff himself when he played. He has always employed enforcers. I think Fritz was brought in though to fill the void where Purinton left off, being that he is now in Colorado.
