Phanuef does takes risks when he plays and its definitely cost the Flames a few times. This year though he's clearly learning when to take those risks and they are paying off. It's exciting as hell.

Laughable poll result from last year.
How about a third time? I can't get over how laughable the results were.

08'-09' To this point

Weber
GP G A Pts +/- PIM PPG SHG GWG Shots PtsPG
18 8 10 18 8 22 2 1 1 58 1.00

Phaneuf
GP G A Pts +/- PIM PPG SHG GWG Shots PtsPG
19 3 10 13 -5 23 2 0 0 73 0.68

Maybe those injuries Weber suffered last year had something to do with his performance...

I don't think anyone expects Weber to score 82 points this year, but I think the two players are very close.

Weber is just slightly behind Dion offensively, but is a much better defender and all around defenseman.

Weber would win this poll easily if he'd plays for the Flames instead Phaneuf.

lol, ok then. Or you could take of those red and white glasses.

Phaneuf is outstanding offensive player, but a very average defender.

Weber is a very good offensive player, and a very good defender.

He's a better ALL-AROUND defenseman then Dion, because of the Defense part of the job description.

Both are close, but I think Phaneuf has the better game-changing ability.

In good ways and bad. Phaneuf can change the game with a big hit but he can also change the game by overcommitting and giving up good scoring chances.

I'll take Weber and his much better overall defensive play.

Not this season. He hasn't had one of "those" hits yet.

Weber.

This thread is a lot closer than I expected given how Phaneuf-happy this board can get.

Not anymore, everyone jumped ship to the Weber-bandwagon.

Phaneuf is the most overrated player in the league.

Either, but for me it comes down to the way Phaneuf is used. Calgary's management, and coaching staff have so much trust in the guy he's out there for all situations.

He was on the ice for the final 2+ minutes vs. Boston when The Flames were hanging onto a 1 goal lead with Boston pushing hard for the tie goal.
