If he had REALLY hurt Jagr with that nasty blow to the head a bit back I think we'd of seen people talking about that as well.

When Hatcher wants to be, he can be the nastiest player in the league (now that Marchment is gone).

Nasty... but also dirty. He is always hitting late and head hunting.

I remember a specific incident where he plowed Jagr well after the whistle this season and got nothing for it.

Then there were the two incidents involving Roenick.

he boarded Umberger a couple years ago. Hollweg got suspended, Umberger ended up with a shiner and a concussion i believe.

Armstrong doesn't answer the bell as a Pens fan acknowledged a few posts above. I said that IF he was jumped, he would LIKELY turtle based on the way he ducks fights and generally is unwilling to do what is necessary after one of his "clean" hits.

So... I know everyone hates Hollweg, and a lot of his hits are borderline, but I can't remember any instance of him taking a Janssen/Kaberle or Neil type hit on anyone.

I can't imagine why anyone would consider him among the worst... and I can admit when my own team's players are a-holes... like Avery.

Uh, his hit on RJ Umberger was significantly worse then the Janssen on Kaberle hit. His has a nasty habit of hitting from behind, though the Umberger one is probably the worst.

Also, I'll nominate Garnett "Elbow to the Head" Exelby for this. Not a dirtier younger headhunter out there.

I loved it when Hollweg sent him into next week with a hit.

Exelby is trash. Every hit is a high hit to the head or an elbow to the head. Can't wait to see him out of the league.

I don't agree with the head hits, I think they are "Bush League". But the NHL is obviously in that category as they condone these types of hits. Hopefully that will change.

But when exactly has Armstrong turtled?

The closest thing to Armstrong "not answering the bell" was against Souray.

Souray for some reason didn't challenge him, but simply jumped him from behind. Armstrong actually tried to "unturtle".

Decide for yourself though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KsO-NtvZ1A

Or perhaps someone has a better example of when 180 lb Armstrong backed down?

Maybe its just me but i love dirty players. They are already trying to water down this game so much as it is, i'd hate to see the odd dirty hit taken out of the game. It just adds so much animosity and excitement to the game.

(Now i'm obviously not condoning Bertuzzi like incidents, so don't crucify me)

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reached an agreement with state and local officials for construction of a new arena that will keep the team here under a 30-year lease.
Wasnt there another problem with the funding or something since then? The Pens are so insignificant that I dont really bother reading that stuff.

some people are saying that armstrong's hits are clean (usually) so is there a difference between cheap & dirty??

simon's slash to hollweg = dirty
hollweg check from behind on umberger = dirty
armstring's hit on eaves = cheap

regardless of whether it's a penalty or not armstrong is atleast cheap because he is only laying the boom on guys when they are in vulnerable positions...

somebody show this example of a good clean hit colby he probably doesn't remember it

I'd love to have Armstrong on my team and I think if Bobby Clarke would to.

I have no problem with hitting hard and trying to drive someone through the boards but he is a head hunter. His hits are usually clean (though i think most are close to charging) but his intent is to catch i guy with his head down and nail him.

His hit on letowski was definitely late & dirty while his hits on eaves & koivu were cheap.

Am i looking at this through the eyes of a homer?
Who would you choose?
without a doubt... YES

If you know anything about hockey... you are ALWAYS taught to "KEEP YOUR HEAD UP"!!! Oh wait I get it you were taught all those year with Lindros on your team the opposite! hahahah

Players like stevens made a career of teaching people a lesson... just like colby does. If you are stupid enough to skate with your head down you deserve to be CRUSHED... I don't care who you are.

Plain and simple!

The best part is, that video starts with Armstrong getting CRUSHED with a LEGAL hit by big scary Alex Picard.
"jumps 2 feet in the air" wow you flyer fans really do have a BAD distorted sense of reality don't you... His skates don't leave the ice until he makes contact, the only thing that bring him off the ice is the force or carter going one way and him going the other.

BTW who won that game?!

This thread is as dried up as...the steel industry in Pittsburgh. Move along, dude, nobody's paying attention.

Why do we have all these noob moron trolls with 5 posts that chose to spend their time on our board rather than their own?

Youd have thought theyd post on their own board or the main board before making fools of themselves elsewhere.

stevens made a living hammering people all over the ice not just with their head down...armstrong is cheap piece of **** because he only goes head hunting when guys are coming around the net because he knows they are engaged with another player while carrying the puck in a tight area d-bag...it's not like they are just watching puck...they are usually fighting off another check, reading the goalie & trying to keep posession of the puck...where are all the armstrong highlights w/ hits while a guy is along the boards or skating up ice...

armstrong is a cheap piece of crap...he is pissburgs cheap piece of crap so i understand you defending him but it doesn't change the fact that he is cheap...
