hoping that richards and carter continue to improve. If forsebergis healthy by like midseason you could bring him in.

We're not going to excel at it, that's for sure, but as long as Carter and Richards keep going in the right direction and improving I'm happy.

This is still very much an area that concerns me, and one of the main reasons I frequently opined that Eric Belanger would have been an excellent signing for us this offseason.

Peca and Robitaille still available, see us having interest?

Is that funny? It was 8 years ago.

So, right now he still rocks at face-offs. Why did he ever leave?

Because he was traded for Keith Primeau, that's why.

I know I'm going to get so much flack for this. Discredited as a person and as a hockey fan, but I liked Brind'Amour more then Primeau. I wish we kept brind'Amour. i don't want to discredit Primeau and all he did for the Flyers, but Rod is a better player.

I'd take Robitaille in a hearbeat... I like the speed and versatility he brings to the table. While I was originally vehemently against Homer trading him last season, I soon came to realize the logic in the move, given that the season was already a lost cause; I can't argue with trading one impending UFA for another with a bigger cap hit coming off the books.

Anywho... Robitaille would be a great fit anywhere in the lineup and can fill in on any of the top 2 lines at center should Briere or Carter miss some time with injuries. However, with all the young forwards on this team already fighting for playing time, it really doesn't look like he'd fit in. Speaking of which, Robitaille signed with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the RSL in May... is that a binding contract or just a fall-back plan, in case he doesn't get a contract with an NHL team?

Forsberg is a poor faceoff man.

This team could use a solid 4th line faceoff type of player. A guy you can put out there in the defensive zone for a big faceoff and if he loses it won't be out of place until he can get the opportunity to get to the bench. If this team gets to the playoffs it could be a big help, but there's plenty of time to add a guy like that. Someone is bound to get injured and open up a spot.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that but I was trying to figure out how a great player/faceoff man we had 8 years ago was going to help us now. I don't think we have anybody that's even over 50% now. Eager was 1-0 last year. Maybe we should use him.

I wouldnt touch Robitaille with a 10 foot pole... When he was dealt last time, it was widely stated that he was a MAJOR problem in the locker room, and flat out did NOT want to be here. Quite a few media people related this to the fans, as the trade didn't quite make sense at the time.

No, it's not bad if you're Peter Forsberg, world class playmaker. But if you're a team looking for a guy to come in and really help you out in the faceoff department, Peter Forsberg ain't your guy.

u prob wont get better than 50% at 4th line center. and if u do i do not think he will be near the skill of a pretty healthy peter forsberg. he is also 50% against other first line centers. against 3rd and 4th line center he should do pretty good.

It broke my heart to see Brind'amour go. It was an absolute steal when we traded for him. I wasn't big on Primeau at that point but he grew on me. If I could go back in time I still would have kept Brind'amour.

we should have traded lindros instead. in fact, we never should of traded for lindros in the first place, and kept brind'amour. forsberg and brind'amour leading the flyers instead of lindros for all those years

oh well, cant change the past

I heard grumblings about that but never saw anything concrete from credible sources, so I didn't buy into it 100%. If that was actually the case, then my stance on bringing Robitaille back would probably change.

The trade did make more sense at the time than people thought... we got an impending UFA with a bigger contract, thus providing us more cap room going into the offseason.
