Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre

Acquired for future considerations.

Does anyone know anything about the player.
Would he be a replacement for Cowan. Also how long is Cowie out for?

As long as you dont expect much offense from him, you should be pretty happy with him. He was one of our most popular players in year 2 and then had his season pretty much wiped out by injuries last year. When he got back to healthy, there wasnt a spot left for him.

He is very fast, has great size and loves to hit. He is a good fighter when he needs to, but doesnt have the mentality to be a teams enforcer. Has the ability but not the passion for fighting. He had always been a defenseman and then this year we moved him to wing full time to try and get him in the lineup. There just wasnt a good fit. Should be interesting to see if they move him back to D or keep him on the wing.

In hindsight, I wish we would have left him on D with our injuries. It would have given him a chance to make another splash.

He should be fun to watch. Like I said, just dont expect any offense or puck skills from him.

Jean-Luc won the "fastest skater" contest in the AHL allstar competition on year. Infact, his time was better than the time recorded by the NHL counter part that year.

He was a fan favorite in Rochester because of his solid hits and the fact that he would fight if he had to. He is funny as hell to watch fight. He HATES getting hit, and throws a punch similar to a cat swiping overhead to hit somebody.

He has the ability to pinch on a play and then skate fast enough to recover.

He definetly will contribute to the team, he has changed his position now. For the better? I dont know, hopefully, he has size and speed. With those ground skills ur bound to collect loads of points when you get some experience and routine. Let's just hope he will evolve into the player everyone hopes he will.
