Beauchemin

Not that Scott is gone will he finally get the respect he deserves? He always seemed to be one of the most underrated players or maybe since he plays out West he just was never really talked about out East.

all the Ducks fans know his importance. he was getting more minutes in the finals than Pronger and Niedermayer some games. it was just one of those things of him being overshadowed by 2 of the best and the east knowing very little about the west. he'll probably still be talked about less than schneider out east.

Beauchemin is a top 25 dman in the league easily maybe even top 20. He will end up being top-15 and the Ducks #2 this year, probably.

I think this is overstating a bit. I am pretty sure I can name 25 other d-men I would rather have than Beauchemin.

And actually if you watch him defensivly he makes a lot of mistakes. But he hits big and can really shoot the puck. Reminds me of a weaker version of Rob Blake.

Does he deserve more respect than he gets. Sure he does. Will he get it? No. But to say he is a top 25 d-man in the league is not correct IMO.

Try and name 25, cause maybe I'm wrong seriously.

I doubt that I can name 25 other d-men in the league right now that are better than Frenchie. He's more like a top 15 or top 10 d-men right now. I'd put him in the top 10 though

And every one of them would have a 4 million plus price tag. He might not be a top 25 defenseman, but he sure is near the top of the best-bang-for-your-buck list.

Definitely a legit #2 defender in this league on a very reasonable contract.

True but that wasn't the argument stated. If he had said something to the affects of best "bang for your buck" I would agree. We have him pretty cheap right now.

Doesn't really change the fact he isn't in the top 25 d-men in the league.

Well, first off Beauchemin was 55th in defenseman scoring last season. So, to get this argument started, you are going to need to be able to justify that he's better defensively than 29 of the guys ahead of him.

Okay, that's not a really exact way of comparing, but you get the idea. He's a great player, but it's not likely he's top 25...yet. And he's defintely not top 10.

Counter point: How many of those guys got a lot more PP time than Beauche?

Stuart....doesn't have an icecube's chance in hell
Malone.....who is that? am I missing something?
Vlasic....hmmmm talk to me in 5 years on that one. then, he might be better.

Beauchemin is arguably a top-25, not for sure. There are plenty of other d-man out there that have the same skill set Beauchemin has.

I think he is good at what he does. Their are agrugeably better people than him but he was mentor by the great Scott Niedmayer which make him better than some.

Top 25? Maybe not yet, but he definitely has the potential IMO.

Look how much he has improved in a short time with the Ducks. Now that he is finally with a winning team that actually gives him a chance, and he is alongside some of the best veteran D-Men in the game, he is really starting to shine.

Give him a few more seasons with the Ducks and we will really see what he is capable of.

Never said he was. He's a great bargain and a definite #2.

I disagree on Liles, Suter, and Vlasic, but would add the other Markov to that list as well as names like Jason Smith, Joni Pitkanen, and Steve Staios. I think you confused Ryan Malone with Ryan Whitney for the Pens, who would definitely be considered above Francois as well.

Doubtful with Prongs and Schnieder on the team. Those two will eat up most of the PP time at the point.

He already gets the most minutes on the team, is he going to jack it up to 45 minutes per game this season?
