stickies....

This is getting a bit goofy folks.

You start a fresh new thread.......and your latest addition to the board is halfway down the page already.

Sheesh....what's it going to look like when we add tomorrows GDT to it all.

Salo vs Conklin.........nobodys talked about this for 8 days.

I think we need to be a little more picky about what gets stuck. Or set a limit or something.

How about 3 (including the GDTs?)

EDIT: Can I get a sticky on this? JUST KIDDING!

I'll disagree for the most part, minus the Salo vs Conklin thing which shouild never have been stickied IMO. But the 2 stories from guy are there so people can come in, and read them. And the up to date prospect stats is great there. You can just quickly go check how all the Oilers prospects are doing, no problem. THe interview one may or may not be nessasary. For some reason, I think people are less inclined to post in there because it is a sticky, so that one could probably go as well I guess if no ones' bothering with it anyways.

So, I guess I'm closer to agreeing with you then disagreeing now that I think about it. Keep the articles, GDT and prospect stats, and we're good.

I just had an idea.

We all enjoy GuyF articles.

How about just making a sticky thread solely dedicated to his fine writings.

Then he (or whoever) can just edit in links for his latest interveiws etc.

Give it a name. "Guys corner" or whatever. I'm sure someone could come up with a good name.

Although I dislike the clogging of the top......I feel it's a shame if Guys writings get lost without a sticky.

I think this would help alot.

"HF stories by GuyF"

I know I would click on it every day.

Stickies suck.

I want to see new stuff at the top, saves me having to wade through a pile of info every time I log on. Sometimes only have a mminute or two and the time spent scrolling by stickies these days seems to be long enough to get irksome.

And who decides what subject is "worthy" of a sticky anyway? No one asked for my vote.

There's 5 stickies currently. Three of them reflect the respect we all have for Guy Flaming's very hard work. There's the future Woywitka interview, plus 2 dynamite links to current articles.

This is the holidays, folks, some people are popping in here and there and imo the "benefit" of 5 stickies outweighs the slight clogging that takes place.

At some point this morning, someone will post a game thread, and I'll (or rabi or goil) will sticky it. At that time, we'll probably drop Salo vs. Conklin for awhile or some such.

When it comes down to it, if Guy Flaming is going to stay up until 4 in the morning rolling tape back and forth trying to get an accurate interview, it's only fair that we give him every opportunity to have this work read by as many fans as possible.

I think that's fair. Don't you?

Thank you for the reply Lowetide.

I feel the same way about Guys work. What did you think about my suggestion about designating Guy, Seachd permanent threads?

Guy could edit in all the links as they come in, put them in his original post with "title" and "date".

Just a thought.

I think it's a great idea, and that may well be the route we go. I'm going to PM Guy this morning, and pm rabi_sultan as well.

Thanks again LT.

It is the holiday season still and maybe newcommers may benefit by having a few titles up there of Guys to entice them.

There is LOTS of time to implement these new ideas. Now that I have a mods ear, there is no real rush for change. It's just nice to know that at least there is some consideration for change. If Guy hates the idea, it's pretty hard to argue with him after all the work he puts in.

Again thanks for the response Lowetide.

This all sounds really good to me guys and I'll try to post notices the same way rabi has started in that "Story Corner" thread.

I must say I'm pretty flattered by all this. Thanks again.

And thanks for not calling it "Guy Corner" guys, that sounds a bit too much like "Pooh Corner" to me and I wouldn't be able to live down the ribbing from my wife.

I was going to post this in your "Story Corner" thread till I read that our posts are not wanted there.

This is a good idea, however...
I thought that someone would come up with a catchy title like "The Flaming Hearth" or "Flaming Oil Stories".

btw - stickies don't bother me. 4 - 6 seems like a reasonable number to maintain.

Maybe Rabi and Lowetide will take suggestions or run a contest or something?

If it is going to be for Guy's stories then he should name it just as though it were a column in a paper. Put on your thinking cap there Guy and see what you can come up with.

Hey I was looking for suggestions. If it was left up to me it would turn out lame like "Guy's Big Interview Dance Party Extarvaganza!"

See? And we can't have that.

I'm interested in what you guys think it should be called, if Guy's HF Story Corner isn't good enough already.

Pooh corner? I'm not sure I remember that term anywhere in Thousand Acre Wood. Must be showing my age I guess. :p

"Flaming Hot Shots"? "The Flaming Truth?" "Flame and Fortune"? "Flaming Bits?" "The Latest Flame"? "Flaming Hot Oiler News"?

Hmmm. Guy's Big Dance Extravaganza is looking better and better.

Some of those are just too corny to even think about. I'd be staring at the thread and want to cringe each time I went to open it.

Besides, we don't want to look TOO much like the Calgary board now do we?

"A Guy-reat Thread"? "A Guy-lightful time"? Wait, I think those are just as bad.

I would suggest Guy announce it within the sticky with a basic overveiw, "interveiw with so and so" etc. That way we get that "arrow" in the forum display beside the sticky, showing us something new has been added.

When he adds something newer, he merily deletes the previous reminder and adds the new one........thus prompting that blue and yellow arrow on the forum display for us again to let us all know.

Everybody knows what the blue and yellow arrow is for, right?

And on goes the cycle......
