Who would you bring back?

If you could bring back one ex-cane, who would it be and why?

I would bring back....Bob Boughner. Pre-knee injury Boughner that is. I always liked him (more than Aaron Ward even) and I was really bummed when we traded him to Colorado.

Tanabe.

We need a cheap puck-moving defenseman and he is a cheap puck-moving defenseman.

(Downside is that he is Tanabe).

I think Roberts would fit well on the current Canes squad as a kind of balls-to-the-wall mentor/leader. But I think he'd fit on any team, really.

Pronger and Shanny are ex-Canes? I don't think we're talking about guys who played for the Whale too, because most of us never got to see them play (at least not much) for them.

I would love to have either Martin Gelinas or Sami Kapanen on our third line with Scott Walker. Talk about a line that would never come up short on effort ...there you go.

I was going to mention Kapanen...but it'd be at the expense of someone important.

In terms of forwards I'd gladly take Sami Kapanen, Marty Gelinas or Gary Roberts back. All 3 are good leaders and would add some nice depth.

On the blueline, if Pronger's an option definitely him. If not, Danny Markov, Nolan Pratt or David Tanabe.

Well, hard to choose just one. But Markov tops my list.

Markov
Roberts
Boughner when healthy
Kapanen
Adams

Good question. I always liked Sami Kapanen and enjoyed watching Gary Roberts. I think we could use Aaron Ward's toughness. I wouldn't mind seeing Mark Recchi make another return come trade deadline again, although chances of the Penguins flopping this year are pretty small.

I could give you a list of ex-Canes that I wouldn't want to see back! Not to name names but their initials are...

Pavel Brendl
Sandis Ozolinsh
Oleg Tverdovsky

I better stop there..

Sami Kapanen would top my list of forwards. I'd also like to see Kevin Weekes back to back-up Cam Ward.

Andrew Ladd / Eric Staal / Justin Williams
Cory Stillman / Rod Brind'Amour / Erik Cole
Ray Whitney / Matt Cullen / Sami Kapanen
Chad LaRose / Jeff Hamilton / Scott Walker

Please and thank you.

So did I, and Druken as well actually, thought they had a good bit of potential to turn into a really good 3rd or 2nd line players at some point. But they fall into the same category as Pavel Brendl for me. Players with sick natural tallent that became their own worst enemy.

Yeah I liked Harold Druken mostly because he was the epitome of your sterotypical newfie that loved to party all the time and was as laid back as they come. Plus, when your name is that close to "drunken", you have to be able to down a few. I could relate to that. What an approachable story.

You can take Vrbata back. I'll drive him to the airport. Although it's not his fault he's a bottom six forward being given top six minutes.

I didn't choose canesfan24 for nothing...

Sami Kapanen was great before he forgot how to score big goals.

Wearing my Shady 80 jersey with Weekes on the ice would be nice as well.
