where did this "the pond has horrible ice" rumor start anyway? I doubt that the people who claim it have first hand experience skating there. And even if they did, I'm sure it's still 100x better than the local public rink they play at.

The ice is pretty bad, you have to watch and see how the puck bounces around on it... that's a good sign of bad ice.

I've read numerous player polls about this over the years and the Pond/Honda Center ice surface has consistently been among the lowest ranked by the NHL players.

Yes, The ice is so bad in fact that they have to hire smokin hot girls in spanex pants and cutoff shirts to skate out during the intermissions and commercial breaks to clean it up with shovels.

Heres to bad ice and cold beer.

Ha. I'm sure it's just a joke, but I'm pretty sure all arenas have people clean the ice. Just not everyone has hot girls do it (the Caps use normal event staff guys).

Yeah, all arenas have people that clean the ice. In Vancouver they have guys and girls do it.

And the Pond does have pretty bad ice, I think it was voted the worst ice in the league by the players themselves.

do you think it's an advantage for us since our guys are used to it?

bad ice is an advantage to weak teams because it means good passing and fast skating teams can't be as effective as they usually are.

but i suppose the Ducks may have the advantage of being used to bad bounces and slower play.

It is an advantage, but I am sure they don't make the ice bad to make our team better or to make good teams play worse. Bad ice is pretty dangerous. When the Ducks play in GM place, I can see a difference in speed.
