Damn it!!! I was hoping he would come back again. He is a big loss to the team.

I expected it, but I was still hoping against hope.

Thanks for the great years Scotty. You will be missed! Thank you again for bringing a Cup and respectability to Anaheim.

Well...(sniff)...at least we have no more cap troubles anymore...(sniff).

Ouch. This hurts.

The only up-side to this is that we have room to offer Teemu a decent contract now.

Until Scott holds a press conference I am going to hold off on believing this.. plus this is from a Minnesota paper.. whose team we've beaten in the playoffs

How does something become "official" when Scotty or the club have not made any public announcement?

Lame. He signed a contract and he should uphold it. Isnt that what a contract stipulates?

That doesn't mean anything. The Minnesota press is very professional. It doesn't write anything bogus. You'll feel silly when it becomes official in the near future.

He should prorate his signing bonus (if there was one) and give back a portion

Or

He should be told to keep it as payment for the Cup

easy choice

Unless the contract says he's not allowed to retire, then no.

It's a job contract, not indentured servitude.

yup, contract just means if he plays, he plays in Anaheim. doesnt mean he has to play. if this is true he will be terribly missed, but no fan can hold anything against him for it. he is the best thing that has ever happened to the Ducks and has earned the right to do whatever he wants. all we can say is THANK YOU!

1 step closer, but I'll wait until there's an announcement before I get all sentimental.

But I don't understand the "not having to deal with questions leading up to the wedding." It seems like the media is already constantly asking questions about whether he retires or not, if he had announced it earlier I'd think it would mean fewer questions. Although the news might "upstage" the wedding. But it's not like a hockey player getting married is news in LA.

Haha, dentures. "If you don't play out your contract we'll take away your teeth!"
